I’m sorry, but I’m not as knowledgeable about this topic as I’d like to be. From what I understand, this is being criticized because the author uses a horrifying historical event as the setting for a BL and, in doing so, is seen as romanticizing it. Is that correct? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m not very knowledgeable about this topic, but I’d like to learn more. As far as I know, there are many books and movies about this tragic period that aim to spread awareness and educate people. However, turning it into a romanticized BL doesn’t seem appropriate. Right?

The author was romanticising slavery, I mean just that last phrase at the end of ch1 “I’m your slave” was very odd, no blk person was willingly a slave, blk ppl were tortured, r*ped, beaten, lynched etc. it really downplays the suffering by turning it into some weird love story. In other words, yes you’re correct.
I feel like if this wasn’t a BL and more of a historical story to spread awareness abt what happened and certain events (like a few movies and series that have been released), it could’ve been cool…but as a BL that was clearly going to focus on this slave x master dynamic, it’s sickening.
