holy shit. this is some deep shit bro. seriously messed up...i came for the BL and stayed for the plot but the last few chapters were hard to read.... spoilers for everything below
admittedly, i liked this a lot—i havent seen many stories where the mc is cunning and *actually* evil. i also like the subversion of the mary sue that was set up for the twin sisters. as the original FL (nasha) youd think she'd be a perfect character, no flaws, totally untouchable, but as we read it is clear that the title of queen consort is getting to her head as she and her sister (marie) get more corrupt (although her sister went crazy from the drugs and stuff, but like she and nasha did try to kill Mc and the daughter so neither is truly a saint).
however as i kept reading, more fucked up shit started happening. i can overlook the step-siblings plot since they have 0 blood relations and in european high society back in the day marriages between relatives were more accepted. am i ok with it? no. but thats coming from a modern perspective, so i ignored it happening in the manga. then Mc and the knights commander (forgive me, i am horrible with names) goes to the circus and it is revealed that nashas family were sold into slavery since she gave up being the dragons sacrifice in order to marry the prince. now thats already bad, but then its revealed that nashas sisters is raped & impregnated by the magic dog in the show and her brother is sold into sex trafficking. he is a CHILD btw. then comes the priests backstory where its revealed that these CHILDREN are castrated in order to continue being raped by "clients" for money. all of this is shown on screen btw. oh and nobody does anything to solve these issues. i understand, depraved things happen because this is the underbelly of society but this manga sorta normalises it since the Mc is totally on board with it all, and the knight decides to only save his love, the priest, and has sex with him despite there is literally children still captured and actively watching all this happen. like there are a million better ways the mangaka couldve gone about with this but they chose to do it like this for some reason.
it was going so well. yes i expected characters to be morally gray at times and for questionable things to happen since ultimately this is a revenge story where the Mc takes down those who hurt his daughter and manipulates people to either turn a blind eye, join him, or get crushed by his careful planning. what happened to marie was already pushing my morals, but i dont know if i can continue reading this in good conscience due to the events mentioned above. i can handle red flags, but this is a total black flag story.
ultimately im conflicted, i like the art and am very intrigued with the plot such as the dragon orb and what will happen to Mcs daughter, the knight x priest and Mc x knight commander, etc. and will keep up with the manga for these reasons, but i will acknowledge that some very messed up diabolical shit happens and in no way shape or form do i support it. if you are wanting to read this, please keep in mind what you are getting yourself into. if you read this cmt and decide this manga is not for you, then i totally understand. please keep yourself and your mental health safe
