Welp 'love expression gatekeeping' so corny, being interested is literally the bare minimum i dont care how you will express your love but at least show interest if u actually love someone. Even tsunderes in the most annoying mangas ive read are attentive even if the way they show their care is harsh

I mean, physical intimacy is a valid love language and saying "that sucks if that's how he expresses his love" is gatekeeping. You can find it corny. He's also gotten out of his comfort zone in many ways (acts of service, love language)

For example, when he took initiative and made amends with his family, came to him during work to show him Byul's drawing (also publicly announcing they're married), helping to mend Dojin and Heesoo's friendship, and many other little events.

That's the way he is due to his childhood. Being constantly abused and mistreated contributes to him being more subtle with things. Even then, when they reunited he expressed that he missed him which isn't his usual way of expressing love

I did not even see physical intimacy anywhere, or were you saying about the times he is in heat and he needs dojin so he remembers about him? And the things you listed, yeah act of service as a friend or acquaintance, i do not remember him doing all these for dojin's sake

I understand where you're coming from. Saying their relationship isn't perfect would be an understatement. There's arguments to be made on why he SHOULD'NT love Dojin. But, as crazy as it is, through everything, Hyesung still loves him. Firstly, most of the sex scenes occur when he's NOT in heat.


Making amends with Dojin's family was obviously not for his benefit. Hyesung has a warped view on family, even saying he expected them to hit and yell at him; he went over there anyway. He stated he did it because he didn't want Dojin to lose his family. By reconciling with Dojin's family, Hyesung wanted to ensure that Dojin didn't lose his support system. This act shows his willingness to put Dojin's well-being ahead of his own fears and feelings. In the end, building that relationship helped Hyesung as well but at that point he didn't know that. He expected a different outcome that wasn't unconditional acceptance.

The time and effort he took to go to an unfamiliar location to show Dojin one of Byul's drawings and encourage him at work is another powerful indicator of his feelings. Going out of his way to support and uplift Dojin is a clear manifestation of his love, as it shows he prioritizes Dojin's happiness and success. In the most recent chapter, he chose his schooling and taking care of Byul. But, in the end, he did come around.

Regarding publicly announcing their relationship, it's essential to understand that fear of rejection and disapproval from his father was a significant concern for Hyesung due to his abusive childhood. Despite this fear, he was willing to overcome it because he believed that being with Dojin and making him happy was more important than succumbing to his anxieties. This willingness to face his fears for the sake of their relationship strongly suggests his love and commitment to Dojin.

Furthermore, when Dojin wanted to distance himself from Heesoo, Hyesung demonstrated understanding and support for their friendship. Heesoo and Hyesung have continuously bumped heads, if it was truly altruistic; there would have to be some kind of benefit to Hyesung. But, there isn't any. He stated, "I think its perfectly natural to admire someone." This again showcases Hyesung's caring and unselfish nature.

Now, with all of this in mind, Kyungsoo (his bestfriend) begged him to simply stay at his place for the night, but he made no compromises for Kyungsoo's comfort. He chose his fear. If the aforementioned actions were that of an acquaintance or friend, Hyesung would've stayed the night. There would also be more instances of him sticking his neck out for strangers/acquaintances

Nah hyesung has a caring side albeit his rough personality, i acknowledge that. Though i think your analysis is a reach (personal opinion) but i must admit that your interpretation of his actions is nice and cute.

Never saw it that way though, caring as a person yeah, but as lover, i did not and i tried. But i cant argue since that's how you interpreted it.
