Constellation killer goes around and kills constellations. As we see in the martial arts world, him killing constellations has unintended consequences . He killed the dragon in the martial arts world, which released a zombie plague that caused countless suffering and ended humanity. Another example, he splintered the goddess of protection constellation into 6 swords, one of which in gongja's wife's world turned her into a constellation that constantly reset time. So we see that killing constellations does not permanently rid them from the world, just causes another constellation to replace them. Plus, I think there was some exposition that evil constellations would go out and invade unprotected worlds that had their constellations killed.
In short, killing the constellations was pointless, did not actually do anything to drive constellations to extinction, and actually causes a lot of suffering and death.
