It's not about the apology but him realizing that Hailey isn't the same person he's trying to paint her as. I kind of get what Asta is getting at. I wouldn't be as kind as her though, I would have done every petty means to ensure he would feel guilty and remorseful.

And even then, what if he had give some superficial apology, would Asta really have dated or married him. Why was that option even on the table, if she knew how terrible he was?!?

I'm sorry, I'm officially an Asta hater. The last couple of chapters have actually blown me. Her crying to Hailey about Cyril is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
