Do you really know what normalize is or is just a new word for you? Exploring dark themes is part of literature since always.
Everyone here with half a brain can get that what Narye is doing is horrifying, there's no trace of any comments saying "this is the type of love I want" or "this is what love should look like" since the first chapters you knew this was a traumatic story. You can be uncomfortable with what you're reading, that's good but you don't need a big moral uproar to feel better. This is just fiction.

Don't like don't read. I find this story very interesting. Not just from the point of view that it takes but also from the POV of how readers react to the characters. Nobody thinks what Narye is doing is remotely ok. Nobody thinks the PTSD that Seoyo has is something he should continue to live with. Nobody wants Seoyo to end up trapped again in the present as he was in his former life - but unless we know what Seoyo went through we cannot completely understand his state of mind and the extent of his trauma. Not all stories are rainbow and sunshine. Not all stories have happy endings. Not all stories are about love, some are about abuse. The fact that the author writes Narye's dialogue in red to emphasise its violence is indication that even the author doesn't think what Narye is doing is ok. We cannot jump to conclusions that this is romanticizing an abusive relationship when it hasn't ended, because as of now, it is not romanticizing that. It is showing how Narye was violent and horrible to the point that Seoyo ended his life because he was haunted by Narye's actions and wanted peace. I don't see that as romanticizing the relationship... but maybe I am wrong. The whole series isn't out on this platform so IDK.

(This reply is to the other person aswell) By normalizing, I mean all of the stories with rapist semes in the yaoi pile don't pretend you don't see those yaoi stories from 10 years ago and it still hasn't imrpoved now, of course no comments are posting how they're in support of that- I'm not blind. Sometimes authors like to put in these scenes just for the audience to feel bad about the main character but never touch up on it again. But the BL genre has always been implementing these traumatic pasts and experiences just to give no form of any payback or karma to the abuser and sometimes the victim even ends up with the abuser. Obviously it's a problem FICTIONALLY, it's obviously fiction but can you also say that to racism online or lolicon shit? Literature can influence the media, that's why jinx and painter of the night are so popular despite having dogshit ass love interests. This is my base of the problem as for this story, as for what I have seen this is just copy paste from what the other toxic manhwas have been doing because it is SOOO obvious that they're going to end up together, go read your dark genre or whatever but it's not for me. We have the comment section for a reason I'M EXPRESSING MY OPINION, so saying don't like don't read won't stop me from leaving a comment after dropping the first chapter lmao. I can see both of your perspectives but I can only see this manhwa in the negatives and that's only my opinion if you continue to read it, who's stopping you to see this shit through the end lol.

Your opinion was really well thought out and I agree the abuse was painted in a negative light but I'm only basing my conclusion at the cover art as both of them are in it and it was why I was drawn to it in the first place. It hasn't finished yet but I can see where it's going, I'd really like to be proven wrong and have the abuser end up in a ditch somewhere but I don't see it happening, for me.

True. It is very possible that Seoyo will get manipulated into being with Chahyeon and not even know he's being manipulated and will again be captive without knowing it. But that too is not romanticizing the relationship because everyone already knows its absolutely not ok and based on what I have seen so far and considering there are only 33 chapters I do not see chahyeon getting a redemption arc. So its probably one of those psychological thrillers where the bad guy wins. But that does happen in real life. that doesn't make it good or ok, but it definitely doesn't romanticise it either.

The miscommunication didn't bother me, it was a rather realistic scenario that happens to alot of relationships that start out in highschool and puberty, what I don't like however was how I never got into their relationship, there weren't alot of highs in their relationship there were only lows (miscommunications) and we never got to see their relationship after they cleared out their misunderstandings. Another thing, I got really uncomfy seeing sexual scenes when they were really young, the art is good and all but something about how the characters as kids kind of icked me imo.

I don't really watch or read anything from this genre, but after watching the anime I really loved it and decided to read it in its entirety. I REALLY loved the mc in the manga, the side characters didn't do it for me personally, when mash isn't onscreen I kind of get bored. Sometimes it got too corny with the whole friendship is magic thing but this manga is a parody so maybe that's what it's parodying about. Honestly a really good read, I imagined it as harry potter fanfiction and it's really funny envisioning them as the og cast from harry potter lmao.
The characters I would've loved to see more of were the other visionaries, I assumed the manga would actually delve into each visionaries' backstories and characters but it didn't and instead they almost died I really liked the bookworm girl's magic but we didn't get to see more of it. Speaking of female characters, I can tell the mangaka isn't really experienced with writing good female characters since every female character we've come accross here are either annoying or weak. When it was mentioned that the character training mash was super powerful I honestly hoped for more but we didn't get to see alot of fight scenes. I really hoped that Lemon would've had the same character development as Finn but it didn't turn out that way hrhr.

After this chapter I literally dropped this manhwa so fast. It's so unrealistic and racist slur to counter another racist slur is just such an ick bro, the author really had weird ass intentions while writing this chapter. I liked the idea that hyun doesn't use violence but this chapter really ruined not just hyun ,for me, but the overall story as well. It's SUPER unrealistic that there's a village full of immigrants or foreigners living in south korea and south koreans are the ones that get bullied like-????!?!? This chapter could've tackled the realistic route regarding racism and colorism in south korea happening to darker skinned people and NOT the other way around, this way more people could actually relate. Idk how the author could butcher this topic in such a completely and utterly garbage way.
Ya'll cannot be fr in arguing over this shit I was curious as to why it's been on the recommended tab for weeks when this manga has been out for yearsss and find out ya'll have problems with people moving on from a dead spouse to be with someone they love like- I only found about dating in-laws was considered incest like RIGHT NOW??? Is this fr or are the comments just crazy
Literally bro I saw this recommended for like a month straight and I’m like ight lemme check this out and then see ts
There's nothing wrong with moving on but HIS LATE WIFE'S BROTHER IS CRAZY I didn't even read this cuz WTF If it was me I'd for real rise from the dead and kill my brother and my late husband..But no harsh feelings since I didn't read this but if I did I wouldn't be able to get rid of this icky feeling over this dynamic
