I’m not exactly sure but I think it’s that Flan saw death herself. When she saw the body of Marissa in pieces like that it probably shocked/scared Flan into not wanting to be in that position herself despite wanting to go where Marissa was now. Or the fact that because Marissa looked like that in pieces on the ground may have made her think that there was a possibility that she would never be able to meet the real Marissa despite taking her own life too as the one we saw was an apparent ‘failure’.
