What Clefairy7 referred to is the flashback, which technically yes, he hasn't done anything yet in the current flashback chapter. Whether he spread the rumors or not is still unclear as of now. But anyways, a villain doing something evil is normal in stories, that's what they do, and in this manhwa specifically, it's what makes the plot move forward

I just mean that it's normal to hate on the main villain of a story especially when they haven't been given redeeming qualities, sure we might get some more dimensions with the backstory but so far we don't know anything about him to warrant some extended grace towards him as readers

Hating on the main villain without even trying to analyze their character is what children do. What he did is pretty much classic villain like what you see in superhero movies. Loki, for example, is one of the most beloved character in the fandom despite being a villain, so I don't think 'hating villains' is the norm for adults. And besides, like you said, we haven't been given much of him because of a lack of screentime, and this flashback is supposed to flesh out his character. The hate gets thrown at him is mostly bcs the author decides to pair him with Uijin as a side couple. I've seen enough exaggerated rage over that I got sick of it.
