Riftan is honestly so selfish and shortsighted. He continues to yell and interrogate Maxi, then pushes her away for doing things she had every right to choose to do as an adult woman. Hes controlling and wants to lock her in a gilded cage; he never asks for her opinion or involves her in state affairs even though she should rightfully be able to as his wife. He, blinded by anger, chose to wage war against her father after learning of his abuse, but did he ever properly comfort her? No.
