From a logical standpoint, it makes zero sense that an ancient, 66,666-year-old apex mage who already lived through the failure of fighting alone would make the exact same brain-dead mistake the second time around. It entirely invalidates his supposed wisdom and tactical genius.
If you are wondering what the author was thinking and why the writing took such a massive nosedive, here is the meta-reasoning behind this infuriating plot choice:
## 1. The Author Valued Shock Value Over Logic
The author prioritized emotional trauma over consistent character development. By having Jamie completely lose his sanity over Count Welton's death, the author tried to prove that Jamie's new human emotions were his "fatal flaw." But instead of making him look tragic, it just made him look incompetent and emotionally fragile, completely throwing away over 180 chapters of hard-earned growth.
## 2. The "Overpowered Protagonist" Writing Trap
When an author makes a main character too OP early on, they run out of ways to create genuine tension. Jamie was outsmarting and overpowering almost everyone. To stop him from just steamrolling the 12 Gods by himself, the author used a cheap trope: nerfing his brain instead of his magic. By forcing him into a state of corrupted madness as a Demon Lord, the author created an artificial obstacle because Jamie was getting too strong, too fast.
## 3. Forcing the Supporting Cast to Matter
In most power-fantasy manhwa, the side characters eventually become completely useless cheerleaders who just gasp at how strong the MC is. The author deliberately broke Jamie so that characters like Sarah and his disciples actually had a reason to exist in the endgame. Unfortunately, doing this by making the "greatest magician" look like a helpless edgelord who needs his little sister to rescue him feels incredibly cheap.

Many novel readers dropped the series right here because of how much it ruined Jamie’s core appeal. The story does eventually drag him back to reality, but the damage to his character's "genius" reputation is already done.
