I don’t get the seething hatred for Rowena from our viewpoint, but I understand why Siche was so mad at her. I don’t think Rowena’s really evil, but her actions stems from her ignorance and the way she was being tolerated, like a sheltered brat. The real villains was the plot of the story and the people around them, specifically people who harbored hatred for Siche and her mom for being “lucky” when they’re supposed to be just commoners. So I don’t think Rowena deserves to die at all, she’s just a dumb kid. Maybe manipulated too, and too comfortable in the flow of her life. Also Siche made her suffer too in their past life, hence maybe why she didn’t visit/care too much about them and was busy enjoying her life. Unlike Mielle who’s really a two-faced bitch in The Villainess Turns the Hourglass, I think Rowena was just an ignorant brat who didn’t really think about the consequences of her actions and her words. I hope their relationship as sisters become better. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
I think that’s the whole point though. Yeah Rowena isn’t a villain but that’s why Siche’s actions are villainess. She actually is a villain and that’s what makes this story so good. Siche is vengeful and selfish and it’s a breath of fresh air. Where finally getting a perspective from an actual villain. She has valid reason to be angry don’t get me wrong but I agree killing Rowena is insane and that’s the whole point. Siche isn’t kind and isn’t just some misunderstood character. She’s in a way also evil and I love it.
That actually makes sense, Siche was an unfortunate victim from her surroundings that made her the villain and was obviously consumed by hatred, inferiority complex and jealousy. She doesn’t even see the good in Rowena even though she just complimented her and was grateful for Siche for saving her.
And I think that’s what a lot of villains are. Villains most of the times are just victims of their surroundings and instead of choosing to do good and grow they are fueled by anger and hate for what happened to them. I think a lot of manhwas don’t actually have female villains and just women defending themselves. This is one of the few where the main character is actively harming others for the harm inflicted on her by her surroundings and circumstances which is what actually makes her villainous. I hope they continue to keep her like this and not give her a redemption arc.
