I just got a new macbook pro and I've only gone on myreadingmanga twice with safari, both times a ridiculous number of pop ups opened in new tabs, of the kind that I could not force shut down with command keys or otherwise; I also could not switch to any other tabs and eventually had to use my phone to look up force shut down commands. I finally manage to shut down my computer only after the add tabs had successfully flown something into my download folder. Needless to say, I can't get on disqus to inquire on the actual website, so I thought the next best place to ask, with probable readers that also congregate there, would be here on mangago.

I'm new to mac, so I don't know whether or what to download as far as antispyware for safari. Would anyone reccommend somethings, or should I just download chrome with the usual adblock in order to access it normally?

Oooh - I have a Mac at home - Safari is not the best browser - I recommend Firefox (free) and an Ad-Block program like No Script or AdBlock Plus - (both free) I use both at the same time and while there are a few hassles involved - do not allow Java to be activated - I have had almost no problems since then. (there are not real antivirus or antispyware programs needed on a Mac)

I have a MacBook Pro and can access myreadingmanga with Firefox and chrome. I've never tried to access the site with safari though so maybe try either one if those browsers and see how it works out. :3

I've heard uBlock is one of the best, better than Adblock. I think it's available for Apple.

Thanks so much everyone!! I'll go download a different browser right away, as per popular suggestion.

Am I the only one that finds it a bit incorrect that raws are this website are mostly Chinese. Maybe it's because I speak Japanese, but I find it very annoying that "raws," which are supposed to be the literal, untouched, original copy of the manga in the language of origin, are simply treated on this site as though the term refers to any form of the manga that is in a language that isn't English (most commonly and language that looks vaguely Asian).

    Hanne May 2, 2015 4:25 am

I think - but am not sure - that raws is referring to the Chinese translation - they all seem to be in Chinese anyway, it might be a way to dodge copyright laws? If just posted without alterations it may cause legal trouble???

I think the term "raws" refers to whatever the scanlators and translators are working off. So if they scanlate from japanese sources, the raws are in japanese. And if they scanlate from chinese sources, they are chinese raws.

That is for a fact not true. I happened to have worked on many titles on this website as a proofreader. I assure you that almost all of the raws listed on mangago were scans taken from Cantonese/Taiwanese sources, whereas the original raws used by the scanlation groups are almost always original Japanese, purchased by a third-party scanlator, the scans of which are never disclosed on the internet unless requested in private mail by another group for clean and retranslating. You can especially tell if a group is working with chinese rescanlation because a lot of the sound effects will be left in Chinese - the vast majority of scanlations in English on this website, I assure you, came from Japanese.

I agree. But instead they should tag it as "Chinese translation" not raws. In the scanlation community, raws are only the original scans, not rescanlations into any other language. It's rather prejudice to call anything that isn't English a "raw."

I think they are just using it as a generic term more than anything, and not meant to be prejudiced. It's like they want people to understand (on English sites) that no matter what language the scan was taken from (as I have seen a few - very few - in Spanish) it is not a translated and cleaned English version. Sort of like labeling all crunchy sweet baked goods as cookies - yum...cookies, oops I guess I should not have used that example - but it was the best I could come up with - and now I have to run and get a couple of cookies! Darned imagination.

The raw refers to an original of the manga. It doesn't matter if it's Japanese or Chinese as long as it's a copy from the actual manga and not a set of images that have already been worked on. There are also manga that are made originally in Chinese not Japanese as well as Korean manhwa. Raw is also a scanlators term that just happens to be used by others so it comes off incredibly rude and pompous to attempt to lecture others on it's use.
