Oh, after browsing thru reddit abt Regas, I was made aware about how Abel was gonna die and somehow reincarnate into a twink fairy.
Just sharing a piece of my mind before abandoning this manhwa at chapter 16. I sooo wished this was gonna be a found family manhwa. No, it's a BL. I can't watch the gentle giant Abel die like that. I mean, well, now I know he's gonna reincarnate into some fairy twink, but I can't acknowledge them to be the same person that's probably a me-problem, I know.
Anyway, if anyone knows a story similar to how this manhwa started, found family and all, I beg of you to let me know!
Usually, the physical contrast of the reincarnated mc between his original body and the body his soul went to in other novels/manga/manhwa were not that different-- almost similar build, both handsome etc etc but with Abel's case, they couldn't be more opposite in terms of physical appearance (except for their green eyes), and this right here was the main reason why readers like you were skeptical about this manhwa.
But this author pulled through the impossible. The way they portrayed Abel in both lifetimes are immaculate in terms of a soul that inhabited two bodies. Abel the big boy IS Abel, and Abel the fairy IS Abel.
This right here, imo, is the best thing the novel did to the point that I couldn't differentiate his past and present bodies anymore, because both are Abel.
Of course this post is not to say that you would see things like I do, it's just that many people commented the exact same thing, but they gave it a chance- and they too were pleasantly surprised about how natural Abel is in both bodies!
I blindly picked a chapter and I saw that fairy Abel still does seem like Abel.
I may not have pointed it out the most but the main thing as to why I can't seem to continue is because of their dynamic. Abel seemed like a father figure, an older brother figure. Seeing them play into the found family trope healed something in me and knowing that it's bound to get rapey and stuff between Abel and Karas, well, can't really say I can stand that.
Anyway, thank you for your input. I appreciate your perspective!
Karas never treated Abel with familial feelings as a child, he always saw Abel as his Regas, the other half of his soul. While it was yet to evolve to romantic feelings (as he was still a child), their connection was not familial at all, be it in the past of present.
Same goes to the original Abel. He never treated Karas as a younger sibling, he always grounded himself as Karas' Regas- the one to protect him as Karas' was still a child. This protectiveness was not exclusive for Karas as it is Abel's nature, so we can opt of liking it to that of protecting a younger sibling, Karas just happened to be a child during their first encounter. The difference between the things Abel considered as families and Karas is that, Karas is a special existence for his because of the bond of their souls, while this might yet to stem into romance, as Karas was still a child back then, it was certainly not something Abel felt toward what he considered familial people (his masters and the people he knew)
This is more emphasized in the novel but the manhwa also did a good job.
Again, this is not me saying things to convince you, it's more like a rhetoric answer (like my first reply here) to some misconceptions the novel (and manhwas ) often catch from the readers, the first one being Abel turning into a different person when he reincarnated.
