But yeah I noticed that the manhwa toned down the sa/rape down quite a lot. The novel however, doesn’t tone it down at all, Taeui expresses his hatred pretty well and the author doesn’t romanticize it and addresses how much Taeui despises Ilay for doing what he’s done to him.

It’s slightly complex however, Ilay is supposed to be a psychopath. Psychopaths don’t feel empathy and have any morals. So he’s meant to be like that. Also Ilay will not have a redemption arc, he will stay like this throughout the story to other people, but the way he treats taeui changes.
This makes sense to me personally, cause a crazy dude like him wouldn’t change himself just from falling in love, and even the way he expresses love is crazy and controlling.

And unfortunately for some scenes Taeui kinda has no choice but to obey him cause of the “life or death” situations, and that’s what makes this story a dark romance genre, along with Ilays tendencies to kill without mercy.
Taeui, being a lil bit special himself tho he is still intrigued by Ilays personality when he’s not “crazy rick.” And it’s a big part of the reason why he’s starting to catch feelings for the “human” side of Ilay.

They won’t be romantic with each other till the Diaphonic symphonia and Suite tho so the next chapters are going to be rough showcasing Ilays craziness and obsession. And ofc during these scenes there is absolutely no way you can defend Ilay, he’s an absolute POS.

It's great to know the point of someone who read novel honestly honestly my friend who is like an older sister to me introduced this manhwa to me it was a big hit that time and still is yet despite the hype i still can't digest the way things go in this manhwa as much as i pity the mc at the same time i find him quite dumb to end up liking him despite everything (ofcourse from manhwa perspective) i mean.... honestly when i made the post i was expecting quite a lot harsh comments and things like that since people seem to have a kink for defending characters like him a lot here yet somehow it turned the other way around which is quite suprising

Yeah it’s hyped up rn because passion is part of the black flag trio videos that’s why she most likely recommended it, personally I like taeui cause he has some charms, but he is def a bit reckless sometimes though.

And the blood from the eye is more of a stylistic/literary device to show how destroyed Jiwook is. The endless rape and Juyeon’s obsession have ruined every part of his body and mind.

Sorry that you can’t block the story. That sucks. But I honestly prefer this cover to the old one. The new one makes it extremely clear that the relationship is abusive and coercive, so people who don’t bother reading tags or summaries don’t get into it unaware.
