I wanna say it would’ve been better without it but for this story I feel like it should start with the worst to end with the best if that makes sense? If it hadn’t gone the way it had it’d just be starting from medium bad and the arc would be flat, the redemption arc wouldn’t hit as hard and plus to me it was a nice mix of the worst shit happening but top being all goofy and the bottom also being a fighter that deals with shit not just a soft silent, their dynamic feels like an equal back and forth throughout even if the overall positions aren’t, but also I can’t even explain why I love this the way it is cause literally any other story with Sa and rape I fucking hate it and want the guy dead and somehow my brain says this is an exception

i agree , so for me it doesnt mean i like this so much then i approved of a SA shit nope , this is the only manhwa i can read with rape . Taeju is a loan shark and he is a thug , no thugs are merciful more worst is this an omegaverse which has something to do with ruts and uncontrollable desire for omegas so i can swallow my reasons to read this . The redemption arc is beautifully made ,Taeju is better than jaekyung on that part .

I didn’t forget that this asshole raped the MC when he was suicidal and wrongly put on the hook for paying his father’s debt. It is insane to read comments romanticizing Taeju. They could have left rape out of the story and created another conflict. It’s lazy writing, overused, and just gross. This is Stockholm syndrome at best with the victim falling for his abuser.

i think it's because it's first time a top that was a red flag had such s great redemption arc that he turned to green forest and it's really rare in yaoi so maybe that's why we like it without a reason I don't know I get you

Yee, like I’ve read a ton with SA and most of the time it’s either for shock value or for the Ml to save the victim and get hero points, or it’s as if it’s inevitable normal part of being omega if it’s an ABO story, or worst case the actual ml and mc’s relationship having less than fully consensual development AND it being treated like it’s normal, like ml getting mc drunk and having sex or idk whatever questionable stuff and they move forward as if it was all fine and good, like the author writes in those stuff without ever addressing the behavior as abnormal as if it’s just romance,

here it’s ACTUALLY treated like the shit he did WAS horrible, it’s not treated like just a normal part of romance development, and he steps back and admits it to himself and regrets it

But on top of that unlike other stories where the ml that did smth wrong changes cause he wants to win mc back begging on his knees etc, in those in the end they’re being selfish cause they want to keep the mc, whatever redemption arc they have is motivated by wanting to keep mc to themselves, here he goes a step further and puts mc’s wellbeing above himself at the end and lets him go leaving everything to him, EVEN if it means he doesn’t get to be with him

Like if it was a real life story I’d want him dead no matter what but as fiction I think the story’s good as is ToT
