A lot of them have been taken from scantalation websites rather than directly from readers. I don't know if it is readers sending them to Mangago or if the moderators take them directly themselves.

no the moderators don't take them directly, people have to send in the files themselves. Scanlation groups tend to do it this way aswell as individuals who buy mangas online and want to contribute on here.
Yeah, you could try to directly contact a scantalation group. Of course, many of them are already busy, but it's always possible.
