Eh but it’s still not the exact same. Stupid usually means that the person is lacking intelligence. Ignorant usually is meant to be used when someone doesn’t know information- stays unaware of the things happening around them. That’s why the sentence being used: “they were ignorant and stupid.” Is correct and used often since they’re two different things. That’s also why people use the word ignorant instead of stupid in many cases.

Example: a shoujo manga where the FL got executed along with her family members. Despite her family being the ones doing the crimes (over-spending their money and not paying attention to their citizens), she also had to pay the price because she was ignorant (she wasn’t called stupid). She knew something was up but at the same time decided to stay ignorant and not find out anything about the citizens and just enjoy her family and friends company.
Another example is Daisy from the great gatsby. She specifically says she hopes her own daughter is a fool. Meaning she hopes she has a beautiful lavish life while staying ignorant to the terrible things (like herself). Daisy chose to run away from anything bad and wanted to not tell the truth or find out secrets her husband was having- choosing to stay ignorant on purpose.

i understand clodan's side to this, i rlly do. it's frustrating when you have something going on and then someone is basically hogging you trying to get you to tell you what's wrong when you don't want to say anything. however, this would all be much easier if he just communicated with ray and told her the truth. she loves him through and through, she's made that explicitly clear the entire time she's been there and would accept the things that he would tell her. like yea i find it hard to control myself and my urges because i'm cursed, im sorry if i hurt you.
