I think it's a little too one-sided to blame her family.

A relationship is basically a two way street. The family didn't make the effort, and the previous heroine didn't either, and this lead to a distance between her and the family. They never really abused her; it was more like they were uninterested in her. I think this is due to the culture that her family has; they're supposedly portrayed as aristocrats that must hold their selves to the highest esteem, even the way they interact with each other is business like. I mean I understand the heroine is depressed, and depression is a very serious issue, but what were the brothers and grandfather supposed to do?
You have this granddaughter/sister that you barely knew, you didn't understand why she was depressed and you never really learned the skill to console someone because of how your family is.

To be honest, it seems that the heroine was provided with the same opportunities as her brothers: schooling, a high class kitchen, a place at the dining table etc. It's just that her stepmother came into the picture and started tormenting her.

I disagree with the fact that they only started liking her after the new heroine took over the body; I think the opportunity for affection was always there, but the last heroine just never took it.

I also disagree with the people blaming her family for her depression. Depression is a very personal thing; you can have everything in the world, your family can do everything right but people can still feel depressed. Depression is after all, a manifestation of a bunch of factors (neurotransmitters, genetics, environment, psychosocial dev. etc)

I can agree with what your saying about them maybe not knowing what the cause of her depression was or knowing how to console her.

I just think that they could have been part of the cause because they had set roles and they basically wanted to force her into the role of cooking. Although in this society it is a great honor and somewhat powerful position to be a chef. She did not want that role or was not interested in being a chef.

Remember in the beginning they said the eldest son will inherit the house. The second son will be the head of the knights. The other position left was for her as the daughter to become a chef and take control of the household affairs.

It also said something about her not being favored because she wanted to venture into other areas something about political affairs or other business affairs which I assume would essentially be the first brothers job.

They basically wanted her to stay in her predestined lane. Instead of seeing where she truly excelled and what she was interested in and nurturing that.

Basically, this is the only position left that they needed to fill if she couldn't fulfill that role then they didn't need her. she wouldn't be useful otherwise.

I can admit her lashing out did not help with her image either. Who knows if she did try to explain what she truly wanted or not to them because it was never stated.

The OGHost was truly a pityful tragic girl at the end.
She didn't know how to stand up for herself and was totally on her own.
With her suicide attemps she wanted to signal that she wants out of this family.

    Tife October 15, 2020 4:47 am

The mom abused her and the family was aware of how the maids and peopld looked down on her. They literally emotionally abused her and then expected her to be okay and happy. And then they blamed her for it and NEVER tried to get along with her. Just like you said “a two-way street” they NEVER tried to see her or her side. And they kept talking about how they liked her now and she’s changed because she isn’t depressed anymore and isn’t trying to kill herself. So if you KNEW someone was suicidal, you’ll do nothing to help. And I disagree with your last point. Her family is very much at fault for her depression. You used a “what if” argument and that is not what happened. They didn’t do ANYTHING to try and help. And even if depression is a personal thing outside forces can cause it. And they knew that the stepmother was bullying her. They literally talked about how the stepmother was always bothering her. Then there’s the fact that the mc rn is not the victim of their actions. The OG mc is. You can’t expect her to take the chance at affection with her abusers. She doesn’t like them for a reason and making friends with ur abuser is very mentally exhausting

    Reina_67 October 15, 2020 6:01 am

you do know, neglect is a form of abuse. she was a child, checking up on her well being and trying to understand why she was the way she is their responsibility; not the brothers since they were also young, but brothers and everyone else were also aware of the fact she was being abused by her stepmom and the maids yet they did nothing, instead they thought of it as an opportunity now that she’s going against the stepmom and they don’t have to do anything.

unless they explain further on how they felt about her, and acted that way. i’ll continue saying they contributed to her depression, and suicide.

Pedophilia is wrong, no doubt, but I think alot of people are missing the basis of the law, which is the mental capacity to consent. The law is built upon the fact that minors are not mentally mature enough to consent, but if the heroine is mentally 35 and an adult, that would basically render the basis of the law redundant right?
Hahah, I just wanted to toss that out and ask what you guys thought.

Wow i agree as well and also ..he is not even forcing himself on anyone

Its not shown that people are lusting on her but they think she is adorable
    Everyone adores her
Though the times they have shown here, made it normal for sleeping with such young girls and there are lot of scenes in such comics where it happens
But here actually the opposite is happening, oh and that "bathing" is forced on her by the workers only using that world's logic
Our king is so considerate :') he didn't come up with that

    crunchy September 27, 2020 6:51 am

The thing is that the king doesn't know this, the character nina could have been some random ass kid that hadn't reincarnated. I get what you mean but the potential for the king to act weird towards a kid (who just happens to be reincarnated) still rubs me the wrong way. I'm so conflicted???

All I can say is that this action are normal in the past, also given that the story's timeline is not in the modern time sooooooo....... It's still conflicting HAHAHAHAHHA

Exactly. At that time/era, Nina's age is already marriageable.

I mean that's kind of powerful though, the Monarchy of Belgot is said to be the descendants of Raulus; essentially Yeri got permission from Raulus to seduce his great grandson.

That scene where the Duke was overthinking and felt like he said too little to someone whom he thought was his friend cause of the bear situation perfectly sums up introvert problems. Hahah.
