It is legit named dear horror.
This trope is romanticised so the author is flipping it and showing how scary it can actually be and mc has no actual way to get out and probably end up with him because that's just how the story goes. They don't escape the pattern.
It is like reading a toxic novel where MC is self aware but can't really do anything to change it. His rose tinted glasses are just off LoL
