i have a similar theory, he was probably "swallowed" by the root while he was on the very verge of dying, which turned him into this creature
When is this arc going to end omg
around 70th chapters, if i remember correctly(somewhere around 72-74, I've seen the raws long time ago)
It’s almost over, by chapter 76 he already knows and has confronted him already.
To me, this arc was kinda boring/draggy but the ones after it get a bit more interesting. (Starts talking about the main villain more, ml backstory, etc etc)
