does anybody know a story with an mc like skylar? someone whos sole purpose isnt just being a pathetic uke but rather a character that has their own traits and traumas and can stand up for themselves

A shoulder to cry on, if I remember correctly it's a similar vibe.
Other than that for MC with their own problem/life and not at the ML mercy with a school setting I would recommend: Semantic Error, Fools, Nerd Project.
In Nerd Project ML is the one with the Trauma tho.
