Y'all, she's only adopted two kids, the other two are her stepchildren and she didn't get a choice in them. Let's quit acting like she's just picking random kids off the street.
Right im so confused by that comment because why were they acting as if she's been adopting every children under the sun we dont even know what will happen to the girls yet or the dynamic and what not.... Its not so bad to have daughters and for fmc to take care of neglected kids who she is still related to :/ if anything it would have been much stranger if she didn't do that lol
To be frank the story quality dropped after they killed off the Empress. She was a much more interesting villian then the Pope ("The emperor was mean to me once so I studied dark magic" is not a compelling backstory) and this recent retconning of her to just a pawn in the Pope's plan is frankly insulting.
Plus, this whole "reincarnation of the dragon" plot point means that almost everytime the Pope tries something, Calix just goes "nuh uh" and fixes it in seconds, which ruins both the tension and both characters.
I'm probably going to keep reading out of hope things turn around, but if you're thinking of picking it up I wouldn't recommend reading past the first 50 or so chapters (or whenever the Empress dies I don't remember the exact chapter number)

Top isn't listening to the bottom telling him to stop, they establish no safe words - not to mention the bottom *can't* say no because of homelessness- this is just fetishized sexual assault.
