So first of all, the art is incredible and the writing too! It's important to appreciate a work in all its technical aspects, and apparently the author's intention was to address a more "questionable" relationship. But I think it's important to address several topics that irritate me to no end in the narrative - Lauren is, in my opinion, an impossible character to like as a love interest; he definitely wasn't ready for a romantic relationship. He's the type of person who makes promises, seems to have a gentle tone of voice, and charismatically asks you to give up many things you enjoy to fulfill only his desires. Obviously, sex isn't something immoral to refuse someone, however, communication is extremely important! He and Chip met at a gay nightclub. Chip was sexually active, and so was Lauren. They got involved, and from the moment the relationship became serious, Lauren completely changed course for no apparent reason. Chip tries several times to broach the subject, gives up his sex life, tries to find out the reason for it, but Lauren never opens up to Chip. It wasn't a huge trauma, simply a fear of commitment, so why the hell does Lauren invite Chip to live in her house? Lauren invites him to a life as a couple only to then put her boyfriend in the friend zone with the excuse that she now wants a platonic relationship??? Throughout the narrative, he is extremely selfish in my opinion; his problems are always more important than Chip's, who always tries to take on Lauren's problems. Although Lauren has a huge support network (friends), he never becomes sensitive enough to change his actions so as not to hurt Chip, even when his friends suggest that he must be hurt. In my opinion, if Lauren were ugly, nobody would continue shipping this couple because the narrative makes it impossible to like him romantically! It seems like a relationship is something he has with himself. I've never read a romantic narrative where a person is so self-centered. At least that guy who was the son of a controlling mother and blah blah was openly a jerk. Lauren, in my opinion, is the kind of guy who makes any relationship unbearable, but he'll always be a victim in a way, because he'll never be sensitive to the weight of his actions to the point where the reader wants to forgive him. But he'll always be seen as cute because, whether you like it or not, he's an attractive character. Honestly, it's a drag. Chip should have found someone better for him. My congratulations to the author for managing to create a narrative where I didn't abhor betrayal; honestly, great writing because of that. Obviously, Chip was partly to blame for the breakup because of that, but still... that relationship was already ruined. Personally speaking, I don't care that he cheated on Lauren; it doesn't even seem like he really cared about it.Should these characters be together? Definitely not, there are cycles that need to end and only prepare us to meet and learn from new people. I can't like these two together, their relationship is weird as hell.
