What even is this geezer's plan? You can't just throw people into an asylum for no medical nor criminal reason, wtf. Also if you're held captive, make some kind of identifying marks of longevity in the room so you can prove you were trapped there over a time scale if you get out and can contact police. This gave me so many jemotions
Both of my parents became disabled in my youth and I have chronic disabling illnesses. We have all been caregivers and in need of care. It is so wonderful to see representation of a positive caregiver relationship when so often in media, the narrative is about burnout and the burden it places on someone. I also appreciate the representation of the brutal realities of life with pain and illness and being othered by society. A lot of people associate these things with aging, but no, it can happen anytime and it affects your entire life. And it really shows who is ride or die in your corner.
I am also shocked at how accommodating places are in Japan, if I were writing an equivalent story set in America, it would be a multi-volume ragefest on how no buildings/companies comply to basic ADA law.
There’s a great manga called “A perfect world” which looks at accessible spaces in more depth, if you’re interested. I don’t think access in Japan is always that good from what I’ve seen. My husband uses a wheelchair and we looked into visiting, and it wouldn’t be possible for our needs.
I thought there was a unique dynamic happening, now I see the standard tropes coming out and I'm losing interest. I want to see more about the weird parents and what's going on in that cursed crime scene of a house. Let's get a proper reveal of what happened with this blonde creeper getting his head bonked in the past. I wish we could speedrun the the coming of age crap, I already served my time as a teenager and do not have the patience for another 60 chapters of waffling about feelings, being in denial about reality, and complaining about unfairness.
