To anyone who watches or reads Skip and Loafer, Nao-chan is a presence you simply can’t overlook. As the protagonist’s aunt, she becomes the primary adult figure we interact with throughout the series and one of the most memorable members of the supporting cast. i absolutely love how we as the audience are introduced to her. it doesn’t begin with labels or exposition, it begins with her humanity. we are instead introduced to her as a kind, nurturing, caring and protective adult in Mitsumi’s life. The story establishes her value long before it ever addresses her identity. And that’s something that has always meant so much to me. Nao-chan’s portrayal feels like genuinely good writing. it feel thoughtful and intentional. Her transness is never treated as her entire identity or personality it’s simply a part of her life. She gets to be funny, stylish, nurturing, tired after work, a little dramatic, crazily caring. She gets to be whole. And that wholeness is what so many stories are still missing. i feel like WAY too often media throws queerness at us like “Here, damn,” as if a label alone should be enough to earn our gratitude. Instead of building layered queer characters with desires, contradictions, wounds, and joys, stories literally always reduce us to representation tokens and props meant to give us inclusivity without ever actually committing to it. It feels like a marketing angle and a way to attract queer audiences without offering anything meaningful in return. and i’m SO TIRED of that. i guess i was really burnt out with other representation because when i read skip and loafer i genuinely cried because of how nice it felt to have queer characters written like this.

i also love that when we do learn that Nao-chan is transgender, it doesn’t come through a dramatic reveal or clumsy info dump. the information surfaces through the murmured judgment of strangers on a train which is an intentionally uncomfortable moment, but the author immediately reframes it. Rather than letting those whispers define her, the focus shifts to Mitsumi making a quiet and instinctive gesture to hold her hand. It’s small, but it’s deliberate and a reassurance that Nao-chan is seen and supported and cherished. In that single beat, the tone is set and Skip and Loafer promises that Nao-chan is as deserving of happiness as anyone else in the cast. i could rant forever about how Naos character develops and her background but i’ll leave that for another day.

I genuinely love this manga, but what is it with stories always making characters ‘soulmates all along’ with some secret past they both forgotThat trope never really clicks with me. It just feels too perfect and shiny. it’s like it’s trying too hard to be fate. I like when connections i stories are built with work and sweat and tears. not handed out by some forgotten backstory. that seems unnecessarily harsh, but please trust me i really really do LOVE this story. it’s mostly just something i’ve noticed its become a trend among romance manga writers. but atleast this story did it amazingly. like this manga is one of the only mangas who’s written an actual amazing “soulmates all along.” trope. ♀ i praise the author for their fan

As someone who read the novel, I can say the author uses cliche tropes in a unique way. I was truly amazed by her story. Regarding the forgotten past, it’s forgotten for a reason. It also hardly plays a part in the main story for the couple in terms of their relationship development. They don’t need a forgotten past to show how good they are for each other. However, there is a reason why that past exists and it coincides with why this manhwa is called “The Broken Ring”. The past is also the trigger that started the repeated tragic timelines.

I believe this is an “Asian way”. It's a theme that always appears in doramas and mangas. They must be very attached to this theme because of religion, beliefs… idk

A Silent Voice tackles bullying, ignorance, and the pressure to fit in with raw honesty. It shows how easily anyone, including the sweet, “harmless” kid can become a bully or a silent bystander. it’s insane how deeply the series explores its characters. Each one is forced to confront their past and take responsibility, and the emotional weight of that is so real. Shouya’s path to redemption is one of the most moving arcs I’ve read. it’s about guilt, forgivenes and what it means to change. I love this story to bits.

Akane is such a refreshing main character. She's so relatable and I love all her worries and inner dialogue. So lovable!!! No annoying and unecessary tropes, no sabotaging of the relationship because of insecurities. But I also love how we get to see their imperfections later in the story. She’s literally a himbo in female form. The side characters keep evolving, and I love all the little subplots and connections between them. This story is already amazing, but it just keeps evolving and getting even better with every chapter!!!!

If you haven’t read Ouran High School Host Club, literally what are you doing with your life? i watch the anime over 12+ times per year, and no matter how sad you are I can almost guarantee even a sliver of happiness when you're with the host club. It was TRULY ahead of its time. The two main leads are incredible and so unique. THE blueprint. the literal most iconic power couple in all of shojo. Ouran pays tribute to every manga stereotype but cleverly subverts just enough to keep it fresh. read it. join us.

The art style is absolutely phenomenal, sensual and elegant. The fashion in the manga is amazing, and it gives off a fashion magazine vibe. Sometimes I just find myself staring at the pages without even reading. It’s an excellent series that truly captures the essence of love. I honestly believe they’re soulmates, whether romantically or not. I love the relationship they have how it’s like a thin veil between platonic and romantic it’s so beautiful and intimate in its own way. nobody talk to me i’m crying

So funny. Let me tell you, I’m a sucker for stories with characters who break traditional gender roles. The contrast of him having this terrifying yakuza presence while secretly living his best himbo life while his breadwinner wife dominates. absolute perfection They’re my dream relationship. wish there was more couple time, i want to see their dynamics moreeee
