I wish season 2 had no smut at all the way it was handled… it’s like whenever authors get to a timeskip their brain short-circuits and they can only put focus on smut scenes and gloss over any interesting plot points. Also Joon especially was disrespected by this writing like a million times it was so frustrating

I feel like this story needs to be approached as being just as much about Incheol’s relationship with the congresswoman as it is about Incheol and Pyeonghwa. The scene is really shocking but it establishes just how extreme of lengths Incheol is willing to go for his “work” (hence the flashbacks), as well as driving home the point that Pyeonghwa isn’t a good person either clearly. It shows Pyeonghwa’s way of trying to establish dominance over Incheol, and his stubbornness to chase his own pleasure and nothing else, even when Incheol is clearly in pain and sick. The author didn’t create this scene to be romanticized… I don’t like bl “rape trope” either but there is a very deliberate characterization here that makes sense for the kind of story she’s trying to tell, so I don’t really think it’s comparable
Yeah i think the comments romanticising it and wanting more to happen to him is quite disturbing. I think your take on it is quite interesting and i get this point as well. I think him continuing even after he is passed out and assaulting him with literally no regard is shocking. Hes not treating him like a human being at all and that realisation to see as it unfolds through the panels as he hurts and finds arousal in incheols suffering, and no care if hes even conscious (this is what really hammers it home too), causes such a subconscious disturbed reaction in a lot of people, as it should tbh.
Yeah I agree, it’s definitely disturbing. I’m rly surprised by the amount of people that think it’s hot and cheering for what’s clear sexual coercion that the author is intentionally portraying in a dark disturbing way. And that said I totally understand some ppl not being able to continue reading after this, this kind of story is not everyone’s cup of tea. For me, going off of the authors movie references (posters in Pyeonghwas room like Mysterious Skin, Shame, La Haine etc..) I already kind of expected something like this. I think it’s a disservice to the author’s writing intentions for a lot of people to be discussing it so black and white so I wanted to share my thoughts ;;;
I haven’t read this, so ignore my two cents if my info is wrong, but I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to find a sane take yes the rape was quite disturbing, but it’s definitely done to prove a point abt the characters. Ppl are too black and white abt these things tbh, it’s not rly the author “ruining it” if it was the story’s ultimate trajectory. Again I haven’t read it but unc barfed when he sucked the boxer off right? I feel like it was doomed to end up like this just from that. But it’s understandable that ppl feel disturbed because it is meant to disturb. That being said, the ppl finding this hot and wanting more of it are insane I get ppl have diff fetishes and all, but ppl today seem to interpret any sex act as pornography, when no sometimes shit is just meant to be disturbing. I probably won’t continue reading the story (literally started on ch 1 ) because it makes me uncomfortable as a rape victim, but I can still appreciate the story trying to actually do *something* with the assault and not just romanticize like many rape slop yaoi do.
