this is the cutiest story. all the problems work out without being dragged on for long. despite it being on the shorter side, i still feel like it was paced well. smut scenes are delicious and their chemistry is wonderful.
can't forget to mention cry baby top changyeong. i loveee when they cry, have an episode of waterworks, and a nosebleed from being turned on and in love too much(/TДT)/
i hope the author can rest well and come back with a spin-off for glasses and his hottie
I’m not arguing w no one about this shit bc it’s really right in your face. But the author using rape as a plot device for shock value is a whole fucking mess. It’s supposed to justify wooyeon’s obsession, but surely there’s other ways to do this. Read whatever u want, who cares. I’m an adult with the ability to discern fiction from reality and have opinions. But man it was so uncomfortable reading those sex scenes. There’s a discretion for chapter 94 like that forceful shit wasn’t happening before.
in-seob is constantly saying no, to please stop, it hurts. wooyeon NEVER USES LUBE, just raw dog, no prep or anything. the coercion— wooyeon saying you like me right, so have sex with me/give me a bj to prove it. In-seob’s disappointment in his own body for responding to wooyeon. Like what is the point of including all that, cause she really ain’t need to. Inseob has ZERO agency over his body. the rape is used as love interest. Wooyeon is NOT morally gray, he just straight up abusing and using his APD mental diagnosis is a cop out. He shows no sign of remorse for his actions until CHAPTER 95 but once again as readers we are to dismiss everything prior bc he has a mental illness.
The plot makes no sense either. Inseob takes revenge out on wooyeon for Jennie, when it was shown that jennie had a tendency of lying. So he really just committed to taking revenge for fuck all when wooyeon never did anything nor remember who tf Jennie was. They also never address that inseob knew and met wooyeon in hs.
Assault and rape are not uncommon tropes in BL, but a lot of other stories add nuance and remorse so you empathize and understand. There really wasn’t any gradual character development for wooyeon either.
Wooyeon RAPES him in chapter 94, and then has a breakdown and they have sex after and wooyeon says, I might have to kill you bc I like you and you leave. Inseob gets fucking stabbed to the brink of death and upon his recovery and subsequent departure to America, wooyeon never visits or even says good bye. But they meet up at like chapter 106 or something so it’s ok? Cut the cameras. The amount of hate jinx got bc jaekyung was the most toxic top ever when wooyeon is toxic top final boss is astounding. This was a shit read, and the author should learn how to write characters without using rape for shock value.
I’m really trying to follow through here but man do this little twink pmo… it just the self deprecation and people pleaser pushover attitude. I CANT STAND IT, get up!!!! I understand that it’s natural predisposition to be that way, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating. Jennie pmo so bad, wooyeon too. So far they all pissing me off lmao
48 chapters in and it’s like we only have tidbits of info. With there only being 108 chapters I feel like it’ll end up being rushed in the end.
I’m still gonna keep reading to see where this goes, but I’m skeptical…
yall i woke up went on twt and saw the statement. i had no idea it was like this. not the rage baiters in the comments being purposely obtuse regarding a very sensitive topic that is literally embedded in the entire american system.
quite frankly, it was tone deaf to even create/write a story on a history she probably knows nothing about. and if she ain't know, why would her team know and tell her about it? deeply disappointing. I hope she can learn to from this. I had high hopes for this bc her other works are done so well, but i'm grateful she cancelled it before it could go any further.
it’s been days since the release of the final chapter and then the creators note, and I’m still disappointed. I bought these chapters on lezhin and her rushed ending was so so disappointing.
We should’ve been able to see what happened after they cried in the street near the bus stop. We should’ve been able to see how jaekyung showed dan the rings. we should’ve been able to see the conversation that was had where dan went from calling jaekyung, “mr. joo” to jaekyung. it’s just so lazy. I’m happy we got to see them smiling and sweet in that chapter, but we never got to see the progression of how it got there so it feels disingenuous.
she apologized about the second season being shorter in the CN, but she really could have included even just 3 more chapters to just show some progression of it all.
2 time skips in the final chapter for 99 chapters full of angst and sex. Sure we’ll get side stories, but I find it hard to believe she’ll ever touch on anything that was missed or disregarded in the main story.
I think she should really take a break and figure out how to create and follow through with a plot and storyline that is more than what we were given.
This could have been done so so much better. I’m not here to argue about jaekyung being a toxic top either and dan being a weak twink or whatever other narrative. jaekyung’s character was always morally grey, it’s just delivery here was all wrong.
like I understand maybe she had things going on, but wouldn’t you want something you put 4 years into to be done well? I also find it hard to believe that she was underpaid as jinx and bj Alex are still one of the top manhwas on their website. probably not even worth it to try and guess what was going on either.
in any case, I am still a fan of this story, I’m still grateful for the characters she introduced. but bc of how this was done, I’m gonna take anything else that’s released with a grain of salt.
I know a lot of people hoped that it’d be Jo/ian in the end, but it was never going to be them. Ian and TJ were always tethered to each other amidst their blurred, undefined relationship. Even in their separation it was so clear their bones were yearning for each other. The ending is so surreal, gives me the same kind of feel “Under The Greenlight” did. It was really beautifully done, and paced so well. I’m buying the physical copies, and I’m glad I waited until the end to read. I couldn’t imagine having read this while it was ongoing..

*sigh* rereading chp 44 and seeing how much taejoon was trying to hold onto shin and push him away all at once. trying etch his face into his brain. he told shin not to show at the funeral but he did anyway.
they hurt my heart so much until the end. but at least i see them happy then. i love each role they all played, jo, shin, and taejoon. it was always clear from the beginning, who shin would end up with. i'll come back and read this through and cry about it again one day
