Its not mutually exclusive. You dont have to fit into the box of whater role society gives you, but its also important to understand that you are who you are, and that denying it is sad for yourself and does that identity a disservice. But when you grow up in a society where your gender is societally designated as the role thats opposite of strength, it can be pretty hard to disengage from that mindset, so I dont blame him.

It’s definitely an interesting ending, I’ll give it that. He did get humbled, and he did go through a character arc and seem genuinely willing to be a better person. And MC got to forget all the sexual abuse because man was that wild.
Tbh I feel like it was a little rushed, and the resolution of things between chapters was kinda whiplashy, but it got the job done. I feel like if it was a bit longer and took longer to complete the story line, it would have felt less… whiplashy and choppy. There just wasnt enough time to ruminate on things— it always felt like it was doing one thing after another for drama. It was good! But yeah if it just took a lil more time to cook I think people would be less up-in-arms.
Do I think that he should still end up with MC? Eh, no not really. If his actions were truly repentant he would realize he shouldn’t prob be in a relationship with this dude for both their sakes. Buuuut at the same time he did initially reject him to make sure he wouldnt fuck it up. It does mean, because of the open ending, that he could eventually realize he’s not the best person for Chiwoo and then Chiwoo could just dan Jin instead. I think the author was wise to start him on an actual redemption arc and then make it an open ending. At least they *bothered* to actually redeem and then stuck with the redemption. P rare tbh
I was a little reluctant bc of the whole,,,, initial scene with the chained up thing. Was afraid that would set the mood. And this could have def gone south, but i think it’s handling the human rights violation aspect pretty okay— turned from a regular non-con yaoi (which i dont like) to something more thought provoking. Good balance
Also, the art. It would have been a shame.
