It's a story, it doesn't necessarily have to reflect the writer's beliefs. What a shitty thing to do - wishing someone unhappiness for something they wrote. Geez, it's clear the damn boss was meant to be a psychopath, a person who literally cannot have normal feelings of love and affection and that's what was written. Is the story a happily ever after? No, but loving a psychopath will not equal a happy, healthy relationship.
