It's a belief that has been throughout the world for thousands of years and it's something that's not so easily changed. However, with progress and the new generations, the world is slowly abandoning such thoughts. We must simply look at this as culture and old beliefs while we understand that they are wrong. It's like how the movie Sixteen Candles is heavily influenced by rape culture. We know rape is wrong and we got that #metoo movement, but at the time of the movie rape was taken *very* lightly.
