I feel like the author was making fun of single-braincelled readers saying the mc should khs by including their comments in that one chapter randomly… also just bc the content is horrific/triggering doesn’t make the story bad, I think it’s handled in a realistic way (aka not trying to delusionally pretend it’s a romance or excuse the characters’ actions) & plays out as an interesting thriller/psychological horror. but with the way purity culture is rn, y’all not ready for that convo
