honestly I feel like the author switched gears and decided to go a whole different direction than what was originally planned. we knew he had a bad personality though from the beginning .. he never listened to yeomin when he was telling him about his day. But if theyre going down this toxic alpha male route im kinda glad theyre going full throttle and i hope they don’t wuss out and make him all sensitive again, we must have a LOGICAL change of heart.
You guys don’t get how much he loves his wife.. maxi is his entire world and without her there’s nothing left for him. Everything he does is for her- he only became a commander so that he could amass enough power to become a man worthy of her. Anatol was built for her, so that he could provide her with everything she could ever want.
She’s his sun and he truly can’t live without her, you understand this a bit more when you read the novel bc it goes into his feelings a little more than the comic. he’s being stupid but that’s because of how much he loves her, he’d rather be escaping the crown and living a poor life than be without her

Love is not something bad to use just to tied someone in your life. I guess, love really does make you stupid. Max' leaving for 3-4 years will probably help her. It will make her stronger. As for Riftan, he needs to control his temper lols
Ofcourse not, I just think people are being a bit harsh on riftan which is why I commented to offer some insight^ I feel the manhwa skips out on a lot of the character building that is covered in the novel, which is why it’s difficult to understand riftan’s actions at times
Hmm I think it’s one of those ‘love at first sight’ situations. We get a novella about riftan’s past and how he fell in love with her a long time before they became engaged. Basically everything he did after he saw her was in order to get married to her.
Also I guess this recent chapter gives some context as well (if you can consider it that)? Riftan’s mom was the same way- she fell in love with a man and devoted the rest of her life to him, despite having a child and a second husband. I think the author just writes riftan’s character to be very passionate and brutish, and he’s completely set in his ways (due to his upbringing, or lack thereof) which is why the character building is taking its sweet sweet time.
But yeah, unfortunately no real explanation of where his love stems from
Yes! This arc is desperately needed for maxi and I am sort of glad it happens. Riftan’s definitely a yandere of some kind, and maxi thankfully fights back. He’d never abuse her but he does like to keep her away from other people such as Agnes or even some of the knights sometimes, which isn’t good for her personal growth. He just wants her all to herself, which is incredibly toxic and I’m not denying that ^^ #teammaxialltheway
its so rare to have a manhwa with a good plot, incredible art, and characters that are so fleshed out they feel real!
