I read this like 9 years ago, right after it was released. And I liked it very much. Now that I'm rereading it i saw a lot of plot holes therefore I can say I'm not satisfied. We saw Johoon basically gangraped Siwon and Siwon begging his brother in tears. After that he commits suicide?? Like it's so unfair. After our MC posseses his body he doesn't avenge at all and ML couldn't care less. They simply just threatened his brother and left it like that. Johoon didn't get any karma for gangraping him?? Plus recording it and sharing it to whole school and causing his death. Like what. We didn't see their parents after hospital scene too. They could have at least told the parents it was the brother who caused his suicide. I wanted to say suicide attempt but HE IS LITERALLY DIED. AND NO ONE CARES.

When people say it is resembles the Jujutsu Kaisen I kind of hope a good characters with a good plot but then... I don't know what to say.. I'm not really good in judging the plot, but the OP's right about amazing characters, my standard is simply how deep i get attached to the characters, will i cry or not when they die, etc... Story with good plot but uninteresting characters will be bland, i can't really enjoy a good storyline if i can't empathize with the characters, can i?
Kny is all about amazing characters, even the unimportant supporting characters have their charm (i even remember the girl who only appeared for a few seconds to slap zenitsu, or the grandma in the wisteria's inn or something who only starred in one episode), i don't care when someone like you said the story is mediocre, but because i empathize with kny characters a lot, i get sad when the story is sad, i laugh when there's a humor in the story, i get mad when they got hurt, etc.. People love kny and think it's good not simply because it's a high quality writing or not, but because it has the ability to take the readers/audience's heart
Same reason with jujutsu, the characters are interesting, but i personally think interesting characters from jujutsu are limited to important characters who really have a role in the story, but that's enough, jujutsu's characters are already great
I'm not saying good storyline is totally irrelevant, plot is still important of course, but the thing is i watched some good movies/anime with good storyline but i just move on right away because i can't empathize enough with the characters, i also have no intention to rewatch, yeah the story is amazing, but that's it, i've done watching it, no looking back
Ok that's all, my purpose here is only to praise kny and jujutsu lol, i just started reading 17 chapters of chainsaw man so i can't judge, so far i get attached to only pochita and probably power, but it's only 17 chapters, so i'll give it a chance, but i'm not interested to continue reading for now, i'll watch the anime, maybe i'll get hooked more after watching the anime since the trailer is amazing

Actually I am so pissed that every good characters died and thats why my comment is all over the place.. I read the manga today and that end just leave with deppression.. I like the characters who are emotional and have feelings and when somebody dies (espicially their friends or family) they don't try to hide the feeling but show to us.. When junpei died I want yuuji to have shownu us a little more of his thoughts... Thats why I love KNY so much.. Every character have something they care.. Also the demons past too when they were human.. I like it when people care about each other.. Thats why my fave character in Chainsaw Man is Aki..

The manga is excellent and even if there are tropes that appear in other series kny’s author still carries it out amazingly and leaves you liking characters that you never thought you would even sympathize with.
