I lowkey dont get it
Alpha was a late bloomer who had no family history to lead him into believing he was going to turn into one. Thus, he didn't pay attention to sex ed and is playing catch up. It isn't a stretch to say everyone keeps forgetting he's sixteen and he's being treated as if he's a full adult who can make big decisions on his own (IRL spoiler: your long-term thinking is the last to develop in your brain and that completes around twenty-five.)
Omega is a grown *ss adult laying it on thick because he went through a lot when he first awakened as an omega and he was going to die if he didn't find a close enough match. He likely came to terms with having a short life until his alpha showed up and because he can't lay all this information out at once, he has to keep him from running away like he's the only lifeline he has. He's desperate, it's kind of creepy, but I can't really blame him; if my lifespan was supposed to be less than five years away and I suddenly had a chance to live to be a hundred, I wouldn't let it go either.
This ABO is different because it frames omegas as super powerful; they are the reason alphas can heal faster and become stronger. We recently found out this is at the price of eventually causing their explosive ruts due to build up. So while omegas get the short stick in society, they're the phrase, "Behind every great man, there's a great woman."
But society has a reason to fear them both, since alphas can snap necks like chickens (brutal strength.) They can't control it except this alpha, who was already extremely rare due to no one in his family ever being anything but betas. This means he can earn his freedom back in society by proving he can control himself without the emergency medication that he ended up being unable to take.
The doctor overseeing them started out as an alpha, turned into an omega at sixteen, and then cancelled both out to end up being a beta with the sixth sense of ABO. He frames those kinds of transitions more regular than the alpha's. So right now, he's so rare, he could potentially have a condition named after him.
It's being pounded through the narrative how unfair the system is. It seems less developed and more secretive than other ABO. They talk a lot about not upset the general public. So really, alphas and omegas be being treated like wolves: dog-shaped means friend potential but one bite means being taken out to pasture.
