No, they are not in the highschool. Yes they don't look like they are in even highschool. I was confused too and I read all chapters again. If you check from the start, it's said that JianYi disappeared when they started the highschool and didn't go to school with them. After a while (a long time i guess) he comes back. There is a conversation between JianYi and XiXi, JianYi says something like all of them are in the college and he has to catch them up. It was like a bonus chapter and it was christmas. I will try to find chapters for you.
Nope. It is mentioned that the earlier chapters Jian Yi is still in highschool due to him going missing (ch 45) and Zhen Xi already graduated (ch 48). BUT from chapter 51 to the present chapter it is a flash back to when they are in middle school. So yes when speaking about Mo and He Tian they are in middle school because they were never introduced in the present time, only in the flash back middle school days. Don't know if I'm making sense...

In the ch.46 and 48, you will see they are talking about XiXi is in the university and JianYi is studying to finish highschool. Then check the ch.224. It's present. JianYi says again that everyone is in college now. And yes, Mo and He Tian's appearing is also present. I noticed it when I read it second time. I guess He Tian went somewhere too, bcs Mo asked him "when did you come back?" I really wonder when he went, well, we have to wait and see!
