Those are some shitty people in his college, I'm not even gonna lie. Who the fuck cares? You do what you gotta do to survive. As if they never saw him juggling part-time jobs before he met the ML. Suddenly he's a bad person for accepting help from a sponsor? Gtfo
It's just like that in asian societies man.
Just turn Yeomin's gender from male to female and you'll hear a lot of dumb rumors like that all around you.
For example, there was a rumor going around in my college that my friend was working as an escort because she "wasn't that pretty" (still so flabbergasted that they used this reason btw), by my country's standards of beauty, just because she used different branded bags everyday, she's not, she just comes from a very very rich family.
Another example, I had a rumor going around that I had a secret OF just to pay for college when I didn't, I just liked posting my gym photos on my insta and am still in debt from college lmao. Also if I did have an OF why would I even keep it a secret?
All because asian society still runs on conservative biases, jealousy, and misogyny. Because if girl has nicer than nice things? Sex work. If girl likes posting photos of herself? Sex work.
Now imagine all that, but multiply it by 10x when you go to Korea for work and start living there. It's depressing but that's just life.
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
This is actually true, back then rumors like this was such a big deal that it makes some student quite studying just because of shame. But from what I heard from my cousins (which are still a junior high school) rumors like this, like having an affair or work that involve sex or just sex rumors, they said that they didn't care anymore cause it's pretty common. Do misogyny still exist? Yes, rumors that's related to sex or work that involves sex is much more heavier in woman than man cause it's viewed as disgusting and a whore (my cousin said btw).
Now in my university, nobody cared to be honest. Yes, rumors like this still exist(having sugar daddy/mommy, work that involve sex), it will be talk of the campus for a couple of days but it'll be gone for the next week. Like everyone just understand it. Tuition, loans, bills, everyone is just doing whatever they can to earn. So if they did have or did some work like, they're just doing whatever they can to survive. Let them be it's their life, we also have our own problems to mind lol.
As for korean culture, from what I heard they're pretty prideful of their work. And I agree with you with that. Just imagine the social shame and pressure just because of a rumor of you having a sugar daddy/mommy, that must have been depressing. And if ever at the end of the day, the rumor was proven false, the damage was already done. The image of a good student is already lost. They're gonna call you dumb (probably?) cause you didn't try to defend yourself agains the allegations. T_T
The "slop" comments made me curious, but it's not even that bad tbh. Disappointed that we see more scenes of MC and ML with other people than with each other though. Plot execution is 2/10, but the plot itself is a mid 5/10. Art is great! It's just not meant to be taken too seriously.
The Little Prince reference made me go all *Leonardo Dicaprio pointing meme* tho

Idk I think it's not really that bad. Everything is consensual and they both seem happy, and that's what really matters in a relationship. (Smut is hot so everything goes lol)
