See, can I play devil's advocate and say nuance was lost in translation... the story wasn't written in English, so the phrasing of things could be missing the mark. If it was phrased more like 'it seems I've loved you twice' as opposed to "omg you're the girl i was always in love with". It comes off completely different. The first implies he lost his first love but does love the woman in front of him wholeheartedly; the other that he loves that they're the same person... I explained that badly, but ultimately what I'm trying to say is that his love for MC is sincere. even if she wasn't that girl he first met, the idea he would leave or cheat on her is unlikely imo lol. I'm even opposed to the fact that he loved her when they were both children, he didn’t even know her. They spent one afternoon together I think what he was feeling was gratitude and solidarity. He was a child but was constantly being hunted he knew people wanted him dead, and for once he had an ally. If she was a boy, I don't think this would've turned into a BL ya kno what i mean LOOOL. It wasn't the 'love' he feels for the MC now (before knowing they're the same person), but heyyy that's just my thoughts on this bonanza
I absolutely agree he was a kid stuck at the sharp end of an adults misplaced anger, and he was in a desperate situation where even those who were supposed to protect him were turning away. So of course when he meets someone around his age outside of that environment that tells him he’s strong and he’s going to survive he feels in some way very strongly towards them. I would go as far as saying that he saw the girl as more of like an angelic figure rather than a romantic interest hence them making idols of her. Definetly his character so far doesn’t even show that he has a moral compass to cheat at all so I’m actually shocked to see people complain so heavily as if we haven’t been seeing and reading about the same person. I stand on he wouldn’t cheat ESPECIALLY because his father is someone he said he doesn’t want to be like at all in that aspect.
