I was wondering how other people got into yaoi or BL.
I started watching/reading yaoi when I was in high school. I always loved watching anime because my dad likes anime. I guess he passed it on to me haha. When I was in hs, I was going through this stage of not watching anything at all. I wanted to get back into it, so I asked a friend what a good anime to watch was and they recommended Love Stage. They told me it was BL and at that time I wasn't aware what it was. I'm open-minded so I didn't really care that it was guy x guy. I ended up really liking it more than shoujo or anything else. Ever since then, I've became a full on fujoshi.
I just thought I give it a try cause I was also open-minded about love. I also read most of the shoujo and yah, thought I give yaoi a try. Though it didn't work out well at first. Then, I was really bored so I searched for another yaoi manga. Castle Mango was basically what made me love yaoi. It has more piercing pain in the stomach than shoujo. I started reading more and more. I still continue to read a variety of genres though. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
My first exposure to boy's love was most likely God save our King on Animax. Even though I was really young at that time, I really though that Yuri and Wolfram getting engaged and married was the cutest thing. I had never thought that it was weird at all. I didn't recognize that it was yaoi after a few years later again. I stumbled upon gender bender manga, and then kinda transitioned into yaoi after that.
my sis was basically like "read this gay shit you will like it" and I was like " shit you right".
ME THOUGH
I watched Haikyuu and I was really shipping Hinata and Kageyama. I started reading Kagehina fanfics, but then I ran out ... then I came across doujins ... which led me to full-on yaoi.
Mood.
A couple of weeks ago I was reading a random manga and I forgot to add it to my reading list. The manga was about a guy that goes to a summer festival and sees a girl that has ripped her sandal. He helps her and they have this instant attraction to one another. Shortly after, the guy has to leave. Later on in the manga it is revealed that the guy is a novelist and spends his time working in cafes. He goes to a cafe that he has always gone and sees the girl working there. After seeing her again, he can't stop thinking about her and makes any excuse to see her.
Also I dont know if this will help, but there's a comparison of the girl to a fox spirit. She also does not want to reveal that she actually likes him. There is also a part where the guy is asked to write an erotic novel and after some very consistent persuading he agrees.
