The story isn't really good but I'm gonna comment again, on what a 'Strong Female lead' is. Being just physically strong or smart is NOT a good representation of a strong female lead. Readers are so use to 'damsels' being portrayed as weak that they immediately associate naivety, fear and weakness as a negative trait. This does not mean the female character isn't strong because every character lead starts off with flaws and weaknesses. Alicia is actually a strong female lead because she has the willpower and courage to grow and become a stronger person. She took on a role that caterpillar once had, which is to look over the entire world and make sure there is order.

If you are one of those who still think a strong female lead needs to be physically capable, then try to look at stories where strong female representations are done right.

Physicality is just one aspect of strength, the characters development and growth is where we see strength being represented. A strong woman does not have to be smart or physically strong, they can cry and have weaknesses, it's how they overcome this that makes her strong.

I think Erin is a good character. A lot of people seemed to prefer a 'badass' female which in my opinion, is not a good representation of a strong female lead. A strong character is one that has flaws, is not perfect and has strengths in different area.

Having a physically strong and smart character, who is able to overcome all challenges by herself makes the rest of the characters in the story useless. There is no point in developing such characters.

I don't see why female characters who cry are considered weak. I think she is strong willed and is someone who will do anything to protect the ones she love, even to the point of sacrificing herself.

    Mangalover7 July 30, 2020 5:38 pm

She actually has a reason to cry not like other fl who have no reason to and for being talented she was never taught anything I think she is talented for having basic knowledge since she was self taught!!

    Tweety July 30, 2020 11:44 pm

I was never bothered by her crying. I actually really like how open she is, even if it makes some perceive her as clingy and annoying. I consider her to be a strong female lead because she's super honest with herself and doesn't shy away from displaying emotion. Her actions and feelings have always been justifiable to me. She's young, inexperienced, and was neglected for a long time. Her being the way she is after all she's been through makes her an awesome character to me. She doesn't let her shortcomings get in the way, she always tries to circumvent the blanks in her knowledge to get the answers she needs. I honestly don't mind having an FL that cries often, unless it's in the middle of a battlefield and they become a hindrance to others.

IKR?! Erin is so lovable whatever she does!
I haven't encountered a webtoon or manga where I got annoyed by the FL crying though... I feel like that would be too hypocritical of me since I'm such a crybaby lol
I'm all for characters crying as long as it doesn't cause them harm.

Ok we get introduced to 2 female characters, and right from the start one of them is already playing the villian card.

I know it's BL,but can we at least make the female characters likeable? Rivals are ok, but it's really good if they could have more depth. I always feel that they're rivals for the sake of it and their characters are just so flat.

    raindragon July 17, 2020 2:58 am

it's just the way the situations come about I think. I don't think it's anything against women, do you? The two lovers are always men, so women characters fall into the all-purpose off the rack bad guys or extras lol. don't you think? I mean, I don't really want to get to know the female characters in yaoi. I want the time spent on the lovers.

Pocketed Barbie boys July 17, 2020 5:07 am

I agree, I didn't imply that it was against women. I just thought that authors should develop their characters equally, regardless of their roles. The main characters are not the only characters in the story. Their development is affected by the people around them, their situation and how they overcome these challenges. They affect the development of these characters in different ways, so flat characters makes the protagonist development very lackluster. If we have well-rounded rivals in stories, the development of the main protagonists will be much more satisfying for readers.

I'm sure I also want the stories to be more centered on the main couples, but for me, I look at the character development very critically. We could just have different focuses and that's ok!

Main thing is what we get out of the stories should be rewarding for all readers. :))

A lot of people seem to be pissed about Masumi's 'husband', because she was introduced as a lesbian. Please read the text carefully. I honestly think she's with someone who's non binary, because of how the character phrased

"She chose me, over any other man or woman"

He added on saying " well thanks to that I'm always complaining how I don't fit in anywhere anymore."

Right?

    Tsukidaddy July 11, 2020 7:43 pm

From what I remember, she never says she's a lesbian. Yes, she's in love with her best friend and that person happens to be a woman. But that didn't mean she didn't like men as well, just that she is suffering due to her unrequited love and the fact that she's in love with a woman, which might be difficult to accept for someone her age.

Okay i agree and i am really happy for her, she is so beautiful and strong. But she actually kind of said it. When she talked with i dont remember who (i read it months ago, here for the notification) she said "what is it like to love or like someone from the opposed sex"
And that was her main struggle; even when she broke up with fis boyfriend she said something similar

Buuut i like her husband, he really is cute haha i could be wrong too

I didn't really need to know how their relationship developed because it has always been there. For me it felt natural for him to go for Taichi, because they've always had each other. The bond between them goes beyond friendship, they seemed like soulmates to me.

I'm conflicted of what the author wants Aria to be. If the author wants Aria to be a villian, then yeah I can see that. I don't support her actions and sometimes I honestly feel like she's going back and forth with her character, it's like the author is not sure whether she wants the reader to hate her or like her. Sometimes I think that..oh the author wants us to feel bad for her, but I don't. Yes, she suffered previously but do I condone her actions? NO. Mielle on the other hand is supposedly Aria's rival in this, but her character lacks so much depth. She was molded into the stereotype of 'all rivals are dumber than protagonist'. Just planting a rival for the sake of it.

While reading this, all I wanted was Aria to develop into a better person. I'm hoping she will get her retribution later in the chapters because she deserved it as much as Mielle does. If the roles were reversed, she's doing exactly what her sister is doing in the end. If there's no such ark, the whole story becomes pointless and is only glorifying her actions. We are forced to sympathize with her and understand why she's doing all this. Hoping the story is headed this way...

Try reading the novel it have better explanation (●'◡'●)ノ

    E H M June 23, 2020 3:06 am

There wont be any retribution, Im afraid. Aria is purely a villainess caught up with her revenge because of her past. Hmmm but I guess since Mielle did try to kill her, even in the present life, that she's only giving back the misfortune she got? Its indeed unfair because she had two huge advantage - her power and her knowledge.

I cant really categorize her actions as anything other than revenge. But at least she sort of tried to better herself with those knowledge; she did prepare everything to avoid the future she dreaded.

It seems liked a lot of people do not like it that he's sleeping around. I think he's promiscuity is a part of his character, and honestly I'm really looking forward to his character development. He doesn't seem to be 'in love' with the the main girl yet, more to obsessed. I really love the characters in this story because they're complex and have depth. Their relationship isn't simple but it makes us readers year for more. A good read.

Usually I hate characters that love / obsess over someone but sleep around, but I don't mind when it's Kirishima. I don't argue that. As you said, she's not your average girl and she herself said that if she loved Kirishima and he cheated she'd kill him. The thing is that a) she doesn't love him and I think she's too realistic to fall for him and b) Kirishima wouldn't be able to keep his dick in his pants to save his life because his morals are scewed.
