You mentioning "growing old" reminded me of another initially super fluffy manga that suddenly threw a curveball with one of the main characters dying before the other from sickness and I got scared about this story for a moment

It's 'Paradise View', the sequel to 'Kimi To Parade'. Tbf I did forget some of the plot, or rather forcefully made myself forget as much of the sequel as possible, so no guarantee. But just seeing the comments you'll see plenty people who rather wouldn't have read the sequel at all
