I looked at some raws and I think that Lorkan faces a contract onto Brian while he's on a mission to another town, and asleep and recovering. Brian doesn't know this and Sol senses it when he hugs him. So now Brian has an eternal contract with both brothers—one with Sol, which was by mutual consent and is an agreement between partners/lovers, and one with Lorkan, which is more like slave-master relationship.

It explains the present, where Sol was looking for Ian and Lorkan had him under his thumb the whole time. And Sol didn't manage to find Ian until he had grown up, and was living in a nation that's hostile to magic users, so little orphan Ian grows up ashamed of himself and is trauma bonded to Lorkan. If Ian had been born in Archaia and had grown up under Sol's watch, things would be different and he wouldn't be so emotionally damaged and wary. But we wouldn't have all the drama and conflict of this story ha ha.

I decided to do a re-read now that this story complete. Knowing how it ends enabled me to enjoy the smut from chapters 3 to 11, as it's clearer now that Ivan and Rau's interactions constitute reluctant consent at worst, and not sexual assault. That said, I can't bear to re-read from chapters 20 to 32 inclusive. While I don't want to spoil too much, that definitely contains rape and sexual assault and I must say that I hate the character Deon. Even chapters 18 and 19 were excruciating as you can see that Ivan is about to walk into the lion's den in the form of Deon. If you want to skip the most problematic parts while still getting most of the story, read from 1 to 19, and then pick it up again from 33 through to the end. The Ivan-Rau dynamic was hot and I was here for that. Ivan is intensely possessive of Rau, and earlier on was quite manipulative but ultimately wants to protect Rau and doesn't want him to do anything against his will.

It's hilarious how when Dan picks an outfit for Jaekyung, it's a smart, clean, respectable preppy outfit and when Jaekyung picks an outfit for Dan, it's a smutty bunny cosplay with a long-sleeved shrug, thigh high stockings and no bottoms (๑•ㅂ•)و✧. LMAO

I love how Taegun's backlash makes him super talkative, especially during sex, while the usually repressed Eun-Seong would rather him shut up so he can nail him in the horniest, most primal of ways. They're such opposites. LMAO

I think there's a side story or two. The main story's finished but there are 3 more chapters left.

Mostly because I want to see how Kim Dan is doing. He is such a sympathetic character, you can't help but root for him. I think if he had stayed at the gym, the other members would have supported him through his grandma's last days, like encouraged him to take time off or take him out for drinks to support him. I think potato would have been attentive. When Kim Dan was forced to resign, it's like he lost a whole family there. It's so sad.

Ash started off being a helper to heal Lyle's aversion's sex. So Ash was a gentleman who romanced Lyle, showed restraint and also the normal positive aspects of a relationship. It was only meant to be a short-term arrangement so Ash could curate the parts he presented and also he genuinely wanted to be a good human being and help Lyle.

The other side of Ash's personality is one that is passionate, demanding and possessive. So kind, romantic, gentlemanly Ash is still Ash. And passionate, demanding and possessive Ash is still Ash. Lyle is just coming to terms with both sides, and Ash is coming to terms with the fact that both sides are still him and Lyle just saw one side initially.

Lyle was scared that Ash would get sick of him, so he was looking for his own apartment. Ash both helped but mostly hindered Lyle's apartment hunting, while secretly wanting Lyle to live with but being afraid of Lyle being able to cope with all of him. Lyle was the one who started off as vulnerable; now it's Ash learning to be vulnerable and 100% open to Ash.

I really wonder if Kin-Heon is the Jade Emperor ha ha. I mean, Baek-Yeon saw a picture of Kin-Heon's graduation gowns and thought they were royal robes, so it was a joke about Baek-Yeon being an over-imaginative dreamer. But it would be really interesting if they took the story that way

Zero sympathy for Yoojoon, he shouldn't have rejected Jihyuk when he confessed. Maybe he didn't realize his true feelings at that point, but he was utterly cruel in his rejection. Not even a "Can I think about it?"

Can't stand Eunseong and his manipulative lying ass either. Jihyuk is too good for either of them, he should ditch them both.

I can't stand stories that can be resolved with one simple honest conversation between the characters. That's all it would take this resolve this mess. Plots build on a little poor communication are so flimsy, as weak AF. Before you come at me with, "If you don't like, don't read"; well, it started so good with an actual storyline and now it's just predicated on poor communication between two bumbling fools and one manipulative character.

I agree with Jaekyung rebuffing Dan, but not in the manner in which he did it. He was so cruel and brutal about it (which represents much of their relationship really).

By taking on side jobs and feeling tired all the time, I feel that Dan probably compromised his work as a physical therapist. Which is partly why Jaekyung feels so frustrated – he's paying top dollar for Dan to give this gig his very best. And it was all over a trinket (albeit an expensive one) that Jaekyung could easily buy himself.

Yes, it's the thought that count and Dan bought the present out of the sweetness of his heart, but I feel that Jaekyung always made his intentions and expectations of their working relationship clear from the get-go and is paying Dan the requested salary.

Anyway, from a romantic relationship viewpoint, Dan is much too good for Jaekyung.

Kim Dan confessed while being under the influence of drugs, even though he didn't remember the next day. I think Joo Jaekyung is going to do the same in the next chapter. These idiots. Toxic relationship or not, the romantic feelings are mutual

Heesung was introduced to be a foil to Jaekyung. They are exact opposites.

Heesung seems like perfect boyfriend material – says the right things, buys the right gifts, showers Dan with sweet attention, but he's fickle, superficial, exploitative. If he won Dan over, he would happily ditch him with the next breath without another thought. His "love" seems unconditional (on the surface) but it's completely self-serving.

Jaekyung seems like a total asshole and seems to say and do all the wrong things – but he's the asshole who rescued Dan from loan sharks, paid his debt, gave him a place to live with no end date, visited his grandmother, paid her medical bills, doesn't seem like he'd ever turn Dan out onto the streets or ditch him any time soon, even if his jinx was resolved. Maybe their arrangement is exploitative and Jaekyung is forceful. But every time Dan expresses gratitude, Jaekyung pretends his kindness is 100% self-serving and I don't think that's totally the case. I think Jaekyung is now protective of Dan in his own way.

In a previous chapter, Heesung's minder said that he's fickle and falls in and out of love and love bombs people, which is what he's doing to Dan. I think it's the thrill of the chase for him and he's able to abruptly move on from Dan. Potato sees right through him.

I'm not saying Dan's relationship with Jaekyung is healthy either. But I can't see Heesung taking the initiative to visit Dan's grandma (without turning it into a photo op anyway), rescuing Dan from the loan sharks, paying his debt and his grandmother's hospital bills. Jaekung says that having Dan live with him is not to help Dan but for selfish reasons, but regardless of his motives, he has a constancy about him that Heesung clearly lacks.
