I will be a Hyesung apologist for life. Boy did the best he could with despite growing up without love. I can't hate Byul because he's young and this is totally normal for a child who grows up surrounded with love. They have a hard time understanding the trauma of their parents. But oh boy did this chapter make me cry.
Ok seriously story is really good! This makes me feel like I'm watching one of those kdramas where the corruption runs much more rampant than expected. Ch 96 was seriously a twist. Obviously everything looks like a setup but I'm excited to see how it unfolds
IKNOWWWW they did a damn K DRAMA TWIST that happens right around episode 12 or 14 before finishing up the story at episode 16

This is one of the best stories I have ever read. I cried a bit near the end. It's a manhwa that has faith that the reader will be able to read between the lines. It doesn't always state the obvious. The pacing is fast so the story never drags.
I appreciate the depth of all the characters. I especially appreciated older characters who were so full of depth like Father Adute or the wizard guy who lost his powers (forgot his name).
I love the ending. I won't spoil it but I will say that it's happy. Some folks felt that there was no romance, but I disagree. I felt that in addition to romance, there was friendship, brotherhood, parental guidance, teacher/student, and so many varieties of relationships that all had so much depth.
Ice Lamp is now on my list of all time favorites that I will definitely reread.

First off, I just want to say that I love this story so much.
Secondly, all of you complaining or hating this story up to this point are ridiculous and only have yourself to blame. The author makes it clear in the FIRST chapter what to expect. At this point, I think you would have to have an emotional torture kink to read all the way to chapter 86 and still have a problem with something that was stated so clearly in chapter one what kind of story it would be lol. Either that or you're just really daft ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Lol people are definitely free to criticize this and I'm also free to call them daft. Like if you were complaining around the beginning of season 2, I could maybe understand the whining. But the fact that we're probably near the end and that it's going to be a happy ending for MC and ML (which the author stated clearly the story was going to be a happy ending) still surprises or frustrates people is hilarious stupid.

But it is daft to complain about a story that has rape 86 chapters in when you knew from chapter one that there was rape. We all saw the chain hooked to the antelope looking thing in chapter one.
