Bashing Carcel because of his past is nonsensical to me, especially when it comes from a place of defending Ines because she was "hurt". News flash, it was exactly what Ines wanted; it's why she chose the guy in the first place. She was never hurt because his debauched behavior, because it's something that was in her plans from the beginning.
Of course, Cancel's behavior wasn't morally right, even though he was planning to be a faithful husband once they got married. But why would readers hate him for it when Ines herself was never hurt by it? I don't understand.
This was an 8 year old child being used by a grown ass adult who knew the future. I perfectly understand why Ines did it, and I don't think she intended to hurt him at all, but it's illogical to even consider it "cheating". These two, while engaged on paper, had absolutely no relationship. Ines made sure of that by ignoring him for years. He was her pawn for a better life, and I respect that.
The truth of the matter is, Carcel has nothing to make up for to Ines, because she wasn't hurt by him. Ines also has nothing to make up for to Carcel, because she's living in a patriarchal society that will only give her freedom once she's divorced. The story is only interesting BECAUSE they grew feelings for each other and now have to navigate the unexpectedness of it.
Also confused coz she manipulated him from the start. Like, legit this was what she planned for herself and what she hoped he'd be. Well, except the loyal part which is just BONGKERS. Tbh, I don't like her more coz hurting others to save yourself... that's a different kind of low blow.

Remember he also helped her and her people in the previous life. She decided to repay him in the next life by choosing him to use him and dump him. Fine, that’s the way she is but a lot of readers never acknowledge she’s wrong for doing this. Instead they just focus on what Carcel did wrong even when he admits he did wrong. Only he knows how to say sorry and only he knows how to admit he’s wrong.

Right? It's wild. It's like I read a different story from what they're reading. She expects the worst out of him when he wasn't even the one who did her wrong.
Yeah like i wonder how they say he cheated when they were engaged..bcz they didnt have relationship at all. Ines didnt care so why people obsessive about carcel's past that much.

Because they’re self-inserting. They’re acting like he cheated on them when the person whom he supposedly cheated on doesn’t even care.
