They are both a high school students where they can make a bad decisions in life because they are a kids that is about to be adult and that's normal.
Also, the ml is new to those things like dating and its been hinted many times because he don't know what's next after achieving on being a popular. While the mc knows his feelings for the ml, he is still insecure for his looks because he's a man and can't believe that after confessing the ml follow along the waves of it.
Ml thinks that mc like him because he's in sport before and that's why he didn't go all the way and that made the mc insecure more. They didn't address it well/communicate well and that lead them for not talking for a year and break up (because like all high schoolers or new to relationship, they are new to this things and don't know what to do and the only solution they think is to split up then break up)
This is when ml think that he really/finally love the mc that's why he didn't contact the mc and want to prove that he really is serious to him and because both them mature up or get the courage they needed, they finally communicate and let the misunderstanding be solve and start again.
For me, this is a good one and a go to read if you ever needed to read something that has no angst and because you have a free time and needed something to read to pass the time.
