J was a kid back then too yes, in the novel he was extremely young when he first became a hunter, so after 8 years passed his body did not age in the dungeon, but technically since the time passed anyway he would be about 28 right now and Sayoung would be 24. There is no regression in this case, I don’t wanna go too into detail about it because it a major spoilers! Don’t quote me on the exact ages though it’s been a while since I read the novel
While he did become a hunter when he was 17. When he went into the rift he was already 20 years old 8 years later when he came out he hadn’t age so technically he is still looks like he is in his 20s
