If you mean the last panel of ch 18 where she has her eyes closed, then I'm pretty sure those are very necessary to indicate that even when her eyes are closed she still has eyes, it's the art style. To me it doesn't make them look old but everyone has there own views on it.

i can't help but look forward to their clothes every chapter. they're all well-dressed depending on their characteristics, i love it so much. so far story's good but I'm staying for the art and clothes (≧∀≦)
