Woah even school this days gives this kind of assignment -_- I think I'm old?
As For me , Well not totally .... Its feel refreshed to read thing in color ... But as long as the story is good colors doesn't matter. Japanese Chinese Korean whatever it is ..... Everything is good in their own ways....
I mean if you're talking about Isekai manhua then sure. But I wouldn't say the manhwa is overtaking manga, manga is still more popular.
It also depends on what genre it is.. webtoon is probably more popular rn than manga because it's not just weebs reading it ya know.. so I guess Manhua is prob becoming more popular.
Most ppl who read manga these days only the read the popular ones (like mha) so take that into consideration.
I don’t think so, but I still think manga is popular because we read it much quicker online on websites like mangago. We get more choice in a sense. For manhwa or manhua, it is limited because we mostly use apps to read those if I’m not wrong.
Depends on the genre. As far as your mainstream shounen-beat-shit-up-save-the-day type stuff, manga is by far on top. But for things like what's on here and MRM (Hitomi is a whole other thing for another day), manhwa is becoming more and more popular. Manhua less so, but it's slowly getting there. Should also realize that Manga has an infinitely larger presence in regards to physical copies (and magazines), than the other two, as well. I also think that places like webtoons and tapas are essentially echo chambers that make that sort of thing seem bigger than it really is. It's not small by any means, but comparatively speaking, it's not really that big either.

Manga has been a large part of the japanese culture which quickly won the hearts of the western audience. It's been widespread for over 50 years and has become a household establishment for the drawing industry and community. American comics can also be interpreted as being popular within the western audience as well, but has since lowered in popularity as spin offs and alternate universes started happening in opposition to creating new characters. However, with its black ink beta style and highlighted figure drawing, they are still recognized in the western audience as being treasures and icons of the drawing community. Webtoons/manhwas and manhua are similar. They are popular in their own respective region but has now gained widespread recognition for it's different usage of paneling and color style that manga does not have. Its not that they have become popular recently, it's just that we didnt notice it yet. You can see the timeline of when these aspects of manga/comic/manhwa/manhua became popular was because of the iconography that they each represented. Comics have the marvel universe, manga has dragon ball z, manhwa has Bastard and manhua has the legend and the hero. (Insert ur favorite of any genre, please dont kill me) The reason many people are more drawn towards manhwa and manhua are because they are tired of the same old story. And through different perspective of story from korea and china, it draws more readers to them. That's why we go through various phases of GENRE. we had our isekai phase, our harem/devil phase, our loli phase, for the girls in the back, our bdsm phase. So just think that manhua and manhwa as well as comics and manga are phases we as readers go through, which we will cycle over and over and over again. It's not a popularity contest, we are just after the next new story. Hope this helps, sorry it's long and good luck with your paper!!!(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
