so the spoiler is that the endgame couple is going to be mob x the high school kid (sorry, I don’t remember his name), and I was sooooo disappointed by that! Honestly, older guy x high school guy is such a popular trope in the yaoi world, but I was really excited about the possibility of Mob ending up with the mind reader guy instead. It was turning into such a great and interesting plot with a hint of comedy to it!

Mob’s personality together with the mind reader guy’s personality felt so refreshing and fun, and may I add, it even had the potential to be really sexy. I was so happy to see something different for once instead of more of the same. I’m not hating on the author’s choice of couple it’s more that I’m disappointed to see the possibility of something new in the manga/manhwa world get demolished by such a cliche, of the endless persuit off one of the parts until they eventually win the other one. It just ended up being more of the same

yeah, sadly it seems like the author isn’t very interested in pursuing the Mob x mind reader route at all... all the endings seem to lead back to hatano. “It’s always you in every universe,” this, “xxx years later,” that... I’ll leave some topic links here so everyone who’s curious can draw their own conclusions, but yeah, to me it sadly feels like everything is leading up to the cliché route instead

Mind reader x mc would have been funny and cute depending on how the author cooked with fresh ingredients but oh well haha. I’m as disappointed as you with this cliche route like if mc were to get with anyone realistically it’s someone who A.doesn’t idolize him B.knows about the bl world situation C.relates to him with struggles he has as well….fuck I need a beer

I think the story is still too long to conclusion the end, this manga gonna be like gekkan shoujo nozaki kun, gag manga with long chapter (the author probably inspired by the comedic story like gekkan shoujo since they also join to make anthology about that manga)

As long as the author still has the idea to set the comedy timing, the manga still has a lot of fans, and the publisher still wants this comic, we don't have to worry about the ending. And comedy manga has a lot of plot twists, although I would be fine if Hatano became the endgame, but what if the ending reveals that the MC is still single until the end, lmao

Hey I’m the first one!! Sorry to clarify that’s just my reading, the side stories I could find were mainly Minamoto doing his own thing or them being a non-canon friend trio with Mayama, and it makes sense tbh since he hasn’t met MC yet

So the conclusion is that the author has never said that Minamoto won’t meet MC and they won’t have romance, so rest assured and we can still have hope!!!!

Hatano and mc are a couple in the live action but it’s not guaranteed for the end of the manga. Anything can happen.

Hatano does have strong points though. His name literally means “standing flag” which points to his role in the story.

In the live action I thought Mob is with the guy whose hamster died and Mob helped him with the printer

That was kikuchi on season 1. Mob run away because his ex bf went after him in s2 then he left for USA at the beginning of S3. Hatano was introduced in S3 and they got together in S4

the drama is not canon! Mob even gets with Kikuchi (hamster died printer guy) and it’s really different, not meant to be taken as canon

it was because the manga wasnt completed then, the drama is not canon, and they needed to end it somehow since a drama can't go on hiatus as the manga did, so they just gave an ending to it. so, yeah, its not canon.

i read the manga for so long, and in fact- the mind reader shared great dynamics with Mob-kun, and it was obvious that they weren't going to end up together. It wasn't about who shares the best dynamic with Mob, but about who fits Mob-kun better in such a story. it would have been a simple plot if Mob ended up with the only one who knew about his true self. i think not ending up with a mind reader was a good decision and ending up with Hatano was a bit too straight, though.

Also the fact in live action mind reader doesn't even exist or mc not cat obsessed dude. As manga reader the live action is such disappointed tbh

Hey everyone! This thread is so lively lol; I'm having a blast seeing everyone's contribution to it. But yeah, I just gathered some comments that seemed to have the same train of thought I did regarding the direction of the story in my original comment.

I've been reading yaoi for years, and mob ending up with hatano honestly wouldn't be shocking, bc (especially in) japanese yaoi authors love the trope of "young love that stays devoted throughout the years." I don't mind it, but as I said, personally I've seen it done time and time again, and I thought mob x mind-reader guy would be a fun new take and more my style! so i just find it a bit bland lol

you guys are totally right abt not taking the drama as canon (even tho i haven't watched it), especially since the original source isn't even finished yet. Personally, however, I wouldn't be surprised if it did end up going that way!!

That’s the dynamics of their relationship. Richard is a sub. 100% He does not want to dominate her. He wants to be dominated by her. That’s their relationship, so you won’t see him in charge.

For Courtney, this is good. She lacks confidence in herself because of her family and the way she was treated by them and still is being treated by them. This relationship helps Courtney to build her courage and her confidence, and allows her to see herself in a more positive light. It also allows Richard to let his guard down and be himself with full confidence in his partner and their relationship.

The only way I see Richard ever dominating or taking control of the relationship from Courtney’s hand is if he has to protect her, or if she permits him to do so, and no other reason.

Like the person above me said, Courtney being the one in charge is their dynamic. He wanted someone to dominant him, someone he can submit all control to. That's quite literally.. the plot of this story. But if your looking for something more balanced and less BDSM heavy, I recommend "The Broken Ring: this marriage is bound to sink." Ironically the characters have the same physical features (blond hair, blue eyed ML and black hair, green eyed FL.) The main couple are switches, sometimes FL takes the lead and sometimes ML takes the lead. Their relationship is also a little similar with the ML wanting the FL's attention (being puppy-like around FL but being cold to others.) I will add a warning, the plot touches on a lot of sensitive themes.
