I'm trying to find the title of a manga inspired(?) comic for a child I work with. He s said that it is read right to left, has some cutesy characters(but not all), and had a character named max who is the "first prototype". They were in a lab and there were type genetic experiments named max, and they fight. There was a kid with the older one.
Anyone have any idea? Google wasn't helpful.

Maximum Ride is really bad btw. The plot is repetitive and not going anywhere. Read like 9 of the copies and they were really boring and the plot was overdramatic. It was more a drama than fantasy lab story. Don't waste any money on it.
