from my point of view, Li Yu hate come from him being blind and regretful of doing things to jian suyin only after losing him, and the way he clings to mc in very controlling way. like when mc was with other twinks in bar and li yu literally raped mc right then and there, also when he got handsy when he saw pink hair guy and suying and now when he called up big shots (mc's grandpa) knowing exactly how much mc respects him and wouldn't be able to disrespect him by leaving that little shit behind.
All this while they have broken up for weeks if not months already. oh and him accusing suiyng of cheating with his own nephew omg.
It's annoying af when he acts shitty and entitled to mc's body and heart only to act like a kicked puppy after his accusation are proven wrong over and over again.
I really hated that dipshit's action too when i was reading novel, but in novel if i remember correctly in the end of this chapter grandpa finally took mc's side and assured him that he would always be on his side if that was how he really felt.
about him not believing mc's feelings weren't sincere, im assuming it was because he believed jain suying was a piece of shit (even without mc's brother saying anything). and the reason he cried when he found the rings was because he finally realized just how much of a precious thing he destroy with his own hands, so yeah he was regretful.
and about company, i guess on one hand it was his guilty conciseness and on another he knew company was one thing still somehow bing mc to him so by giving his share he would one, find solace and another, would knew that mc would be bound to him in that weird way.
Overall if you read novel it's really heart wrenching arc, and i just love how mc's always standing by his words, tho there is small lose of minds too iykyk anyway chase arc is good, redemption better and ending so sweet, side stories will make you lickc ur fingers

Things I don't like about him:
Makes out he wasn't gay/bi before suiying
Was sleeping with suiying when he apparently liked his brother sulin
Raped suiying twice
Has weird topping bottoming bias that I think comes from a fear of emasculation
Feels he's owed suiyings forgiveness just for apologising
So aloof he comes across as a giant douche pretty much at all times.
Using the fact he knows suiying won't tell anyone the details of anything to manipulate him into taking him back.
Sleeping with suiying while knowing he was screwing him over in business and stealing from him, and when confronted, told suiying to calm down, icky.
There's probably more but that's why I dislike him. It's his whole vibe in general, as a stuck up guy who thinks he's better than everyone but is just a douche who doesn't know how to be gracious or communicate properly.

The regression part is true I believe however our MC originally believed he entered the novel he was reading when in reality it was the memories before he regressed. I think he’s just now realizing that there was never a novel and he was basically gaslighting himself

Don’t think he was reborn and transferred. A lot of people saying the regression part is true but the novel part is a defense mechanism to repress the horrible memories from his first time (?)

He really did live out that alternative reality with his "best friend". The ML got sent there to. The novel is a coping mechanism but that alternate reality is not.
